Had the seafood taster.
Did not take photos of the chowder. Why I forgot as it was gulped down in seconds, the rest were constant reminders by my wife to capture.
Drinks wise tried the gin based roots cocktail, nice and zesty. Since they also had fever tree tonic a G&T was also on the menu.
The proteins were cooked well not over cooked, lovely texture and aroma across the board.
There was a seafood chowder with salmon and shrimp.
Jumbo shrimp
Tuna
Lobster
Poached salmon
Scallops
Absolutely worth a visit.

What a fantastic restaurant experience. The food was divine. The chef had a personal touch on everything. The owners made you feel comfortable and relaxed. If you’re in town, this is a must stop for lunch or dinner.

This is the first time I have been to Charlotte Lane since the new ownership, due mostly as I live away. It was way beyond my expectations and the chef clearly knows how to cook with passion and creativity. I was truly impressed that the local seafood was cooked perfectly and with brilliant seasoning and sauces. It seriously was the best chowder I have ever had. The 7 course seafood experience was a fresh take on the local bounty and I was glad to see new dishes! Well done! and if folks haven’t been back to Charlotte Land-this is your time to do so. The food is prepared very thoughtfully and with flare that comes only with an experienced chef! 10/10

We were here for a birthday dinner and we loved it all. The warmth of the decor, the friendliness of the staff, the gift shop. And the food! Traditional ingredients but inventive ways to use them. You can taste the freshness of everything used in the recipe, the vegetables are perfectly cooked, the sauces are to die for. Amazing variation on Irish coffee in the end. A small mishap in the orders was dealt with speed and grace. A memorable dinner which makes you want to come back to explore the rest of the menu.

We hosted our wedding dinner and reception here last year (July 2022) and it was fabulous. It was so easy working with Emilie and Nakul to create a perfect meal in an intimate setting.
We hosted a small wedding with under 20 people. The back room and adjoining patio fit our needs perfectly. Having private access to the patio off the dining room allowed for us to begin with a standing reception outside before sitting down to dinner. It also provided a space for the small children to have fun.
Emilie and Nakul were exceptionally responsive and accommodating in the lead up and during the dinner. The menu options were exciting and catered to a lot of different tastes. We offered both vegetarian and meat options. Salads and pork belly appetisers. Veggie curry, slow-roasted beef for mains. About a quarter of our guests were children and Nakul managed to put together beautiful dishes for the younger guests too. Each course was exceptional!
We highly recommend considering this place for your next event. It’s a charming restaurant in Shelburne’s historic district. We’re heading back soon for their Sunday brunch that we’ve heard is to die for. Looking forward to seeing the Charlotte Lane crew again!

Delicious squash soup – had an exotic flavour. The filet was also delicious – very generous amount and perfectly cooked with a pepper sauce. Scallops were also perfect!
Server Emily is efficient and charming

One of the best seafood dining experiences we’ve had on the East Coast. The chef did an in-the-moment inspired seven course feast: mussels, scallops, chowder, shrimp, tuna, surf clam, and lobster, along with melt in your mouth rich chocolate mousse. This place is a true delight, with portions, service, and quality that make this spot worthy of the best restaurants in Nova Scotia.

I ate at Charlotte’s before it was sold and everything about this restaurant was fantastic. This is my second time eating here since it was sold. The first time was very good. However, this time was a huge disappointment. The dining room is well appointed with a nice ambiance. The servier was okay, but not particularly friendly. We both got the impression that she didn’t really like her job. The menu is not particulary interesting. We ended up both ordering the Chicken Shawarma. The flavour of the shawarma was excellent. The chef nailed the flavours. However, beyond that the dish was mediocre at best. The chicken was served on a huge bed of basmati rice. Why so much rice? The roasted potatoes were nice, but didn’t really fit with the overall dish. The naan bread was gummy. The salad was a huge disappointment. With so many interesting lettuce varities available these days, why choose iceberg lettuce and include peices of the core? The salad also included cherry tomotoes and goat cheese with a slight drizzle of balsamic glaze. Overall, we felt this dish was a huge failure. I do not recommend this restaurant.
