The owners and employees are very nice.
Definitely will be making the drive back here again soon
I didn’t have any real expectations walking in here. This place took over when Samurai Hibachi couldn’t make it, and while pulling into a full parking lot is usually a good sign, I realized pretty quickly that it’s just Ripley, WV, so I didn’t let my hopes get up.
As expected, there was a wait for a table, which was no big deal and didn’t take long. However, once seated, it took quite a while for a waitress to show up. That gave me plenty of time to look over the menu, which had your usual suspects from hibachi to Thai. The fact that they actually put “Steakhouse” in the name is laughable; this place is clearly more of a sushi restaurant than anything else, which is fine since I enjoy sushi.
I decided to keep it simple and ordered the hibachi filet. After yet another long wait, a different waiter came over to ask us what we had ordered so he could go get it. Unreal. Once he managed to find the food, I finally got to try it and, boy, was I not surprised. Nothing has really changed from the Samurai days. The flavor was bland. The steak was cooked correctly, which was shocking considering I was never even asked how I like my steak prepared.
And that’s it, that’s the review. I probably won’t be back. If I want the hibachi experience with food that actually has flavor, I’ll go to Charleston or Parkersburg. Like I said in my review of the old place: this is just “Ripley good.”
