I pride myself on finding incredible places to eat, drink, and experience genuine hospitality when I travel—and Texican by Abel Gonzalez is one of those special finds. I took a day trip to Dallas to visit a friend, and after landing, I was starving. A quick search led me to Texican, and the photos alone convinced me to give it a try. I’m so glad I did.

When we walked in, there were a few guests enjoying breakfast in a quaint, cozy dining area—beautiful, but unfussy. We headed to the back to check out the menu, and the guy at the counter was incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable. His enthusiasm about the food made us even more excited to order.

We went with two brisket, bacon, and egg tacos and a vegetable and bean taco. Every bite was amazing. The brisket was smoky and tender, the eggs were cooked just right, and everything was packed with flavor. But the surprise standout? The chips and salsa. Freshly made in-house, the chips were fried to absolute perfection, and the salsa was vibrant and full of depth.

The customer service was fantastic, and the owner was present and generous with his time, happily sharing the story of the restaurant. Texican has been open for about five years, and it’s clear it’s something special. I already know what I’m ordering next time—the brisket breakfast plate I spotted at the table across from us looked incredible.

If you’re in Dallas, don’t miss this spot. Texican by Abel Gonzalez is a true gem worth discovering.

We absolutely loved our meals… I had the breakfast brisket plate, it was amazing. I completely cleaned my plate. My husband had the breakfast tacos abd continues to rave about the chorizo taco. My niece has the chicken fajita tacos and she said the were delicious.

I thought the outside of the restaurant was eye-catching and it is such a nice color! The inside was nice and homey. My mama and I enjoyed the food and the music! I danced around a bit, lol. AG was a kind and patient while we decided on our order.

I’d DEFINITELY go back when in the area!

I never review places but this man definitely deserves one. His food is so underrate best food around. I had the fajita nachos and they were the best I have ever had. I love trying different restaurants so I have a lot compared them with. People that stumbled onto this place seem to be gate keeping this spot because it has not blown up yet and their competitors should be counting their blessings. Back to those delicious nachos they where so good I could tell he didn’t use cheap ingredients and the flavor that stood out to me was butter on the fajita and chips. The brisket tacos are up there to. Just writing this is making me want more.

Been trying to go here for sometime, that time has finally came! Cocina Italiano was absolutely the best Italian food I have ever had. Location is small, but cozy and decor is nice. Now to the food I had bow tie with rose sauce and chicken. The sauce was so good and all of my pasta was covered with it. The house salad is a great set up for the main course. My wife ordered the pizza, The Abel, and this pizza was hot and tasted so good. With all this said we left full, we plan to visit again real soon…

The atmosphere was super uncomfortable and the service was one of the worst I’ve ever had in the 29 years of my life. The cashier was very rude, disrespectful, immature, especially for a middle-aged guy, and came across as racist. And I’m not one to throw that word around unless it’s the real deal. He seems like the type that stereotypes an entire group of people and tries to fit them into a small box. I’m the kind of person who’s genuinely kind to everyone I talk to, so his behavior really caught me off guard. The food was very bland, and lacked flavor and love. I won’t be coming back. My friend definitely needs to recommend better restaurants.
