Ambiance is a 5: definitely cute on the outside, inviting with a nicely painted porch and seats. As you enter you are welcomed by walls with colorful canvas artwork (which are for sale and painted by a local artist!). Cute decor with plants give it a homey feel. Dining area seats 14. There is a window view to the outside porch and surrounding area.plenty of parking.
Service is a definite 5: you’re greeted with a smile as you enter. I relayed that it’s my first time and the hostess/wait staff was so helpful telling me about their did used on the board and their popular items.
I ordered the green goddess sandwich with chicken salad (you can alternatively order chickpea salad) and a side of kale salad. The sandwich was really delicious: fresh alfalfa sprouts, cucumbers, chicken salad. The kale salad had bacon and fresh grated Parmesan cheese. It was a tad salty but it probably just because of mg taste buds! I couldn’t finish the sandwich so I was given containers for my sandwich salad and was provided a foam cup for my coffee.
Now the super service treat: the owner Susan came out to chat with another customer. Susan seemed so personable and accommodating, provided the other customer a taste of the burrito of the day: pulled pork, beans and all the wonderful ingredients. Susan unsuspectingly gave me a slice of her buttermilk pie (cereal crust!), as if to give me something that pairs well with my coffee. THANK YOU Susan for your generous and scrumptious gift!!!
And lastly: apologies to the wonderful hostess/waitress – I unintentionally gave her extra cleanup work as I spilled my coffee on the porch! Will definitely make ig up to her she. I come back for Saturday brunch!
Highly recommend this cafe, a true gem in Colley!
Soup was like kale and potatoes, i forget the name, but it was outstanding, you can see in the pic. we got the ham sandwich: Va Press and chicken salad cold plate. like others have said, the sandwich was pile high, we shared.
please keep in mind that this is a small little hidden gem hiding out on 39th street, not many tables, all food items are served in plastic containers.
be back soon !
The food quality is the freshest and tastiest I’ve had the pleasure of eating and understanding the care that goes into it. The pasta and broccoli salad was the most tender I’ve had (I learned the cooks cook it especially so for the elderly that frequent), the burrito was very well spiced and generously sized (I was asked about the spice level personally by the cook), and I was impressed down to the level of use of local hot sauce (and even given the location of where to purchase said sauce).
This location truly encapsulates caring and supporting the community as well as the customers. Please do give them a try if you find them.
If you enjoy hearty, filling breakfast with flavor, this is the spot.
The NOCO: Can’t say enough about the warm melted cheese and homemade red cabbage kraut that never took away from the friggin amazing pastrami itself. Toasted on rye bread, I’m scared this sandwich won’t let me try anything else.
Tried out the broccoli salad AND pasta salad. Never had broc salad with the puffed barley but what great additional touch to the salad! Not overdressed and the right amount of onions and cheese. Ya can’t go wrong if you’re a pasta salad fan, it has all the notes of a homemade traditional lunch accompaniment. Keeping it simple and delicious while adding their own personal touches is a win for this place.
Really wish I had time to sit and eat as their dining area was quaint and welcoming. Local art on the walls brings it altogether. I’ll be back and I can’t wait to try their brunch and biscuits and gravy!
Get up and go eat at Honeysuckle Cafe NFK nowwww!!!! ️
Keep up the great work Susan & Ross!
