The food was excellent. Every detail of the plates, silverware, and glassware was beautiful and intentional. The decor a great complement to the food, evoking a casual creole atmosphere. We had a very personable server, and the owner came out to see how we liked the food too. I hope we get to return .

We recently discovered “Velvet’s Big Easy” when we were searching for creole/cajun food on Fat Tuesday. What an absolute treasure located in the Parkland area. Super friendly staff and delicious food. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant!

Velvet’s Big Easy is a gem. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, and you can tell it’s made from scratch with care and expertise. The fried peach pie was incredible and a true testament to the love and skill that goes into the food here. I’m already looking forward to going back and exploring more of the menu like the fried bologna. We’ve lived here for going on 5 years, and this is the first time I’ve seen this southern classic on any menu here!

The only thing I was missing was the holy trinity in the gumbo, but honestly, everything else made up for it. Is it expensive? For the area, but this isn’t just another spot cutting corners—there aren’t many places around where the chef is hand-making 100 fried peach pies a week.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have something this special in our area. If you appreciate great food, craftsmanship, and southern hospitality, Velvet’s Big Easy is worth every penny.

I needed a little memory of my time in NOLA with a friend I made there almost 10 years ago. It was a lovely time, great atmosphere and such a lovely family working together. The po’boy was everything I dreamed it would be. My friend got the pasta and I happily tried it. I can’t wait to go back and get some shrimp and grits! They even shared their story with us. What a warm environment. So lovely!

If you’re in Parkland, WA, and craving a culinary adventure, look no further than Velvet’s Big Easy. This hidden gem serves up some of the most delicious Creole and Cajun food you’ll ever taste!

To celebrate my wife’s birthday, we decided to indulge in a feast, and we were not disappointed. My wife opted for the Vegan Creole, a dish that was bursting with flavor and creativity. I couldn’t resist the Red Beans & Rice paired with Andouille sausage, which was hearty and comforting. The Velvet’s Fried Chicken Wings was crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection!

We also tried the Stuffed Vegan Mushroom Dish, which was a delightful surprise, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to flavor and freshness. Each dish was crafted with care and passion, making our dining experience truly memorable.

What made our visit even more special was the warm hospitality. Chef Brenda took the time to stop by our table and chat, which added a personal touch to our experience. Her son provided outstanding service, ensuring we felt welcomed and well taken care of.

Velvet’s Big Easy is undoubtedly a local treasure that I highly recommend. The food is super delicious, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is exceptional. We will definitely be back to savor more of their amazing dishes!

Delicious jambalaya & cornbread! I ate every morsel with no leftovers. It was so yummy! The texture of the cornbread was perfection. Thin like a pancake but had the slightest crisp to it and wasn’t overly sweet, but so so tasty!! The jambalaya was very flavorful. I can’t wait to try other items. I will be back! And they have live music? Love!! I definitely need to go back and will update my review as I try more of the menu. But so far, 10/10! Support this local business!

My birthday was last Friday. Amazingly enough Ray actually remembered and I did not have to put out reminders. LOL!!!

After a long day of Sheena boot camp, we took another trip to Frontier Park to finalize our trail for the concessioned “trail rides”. We will be giving them during the Pierce County Fair, which is from Aug. 7th through Aug. 10th, along with pictures of the little, littles on our pony, Cheerios.

Ray and I got back to the ranch and did the evening farm chores. We even dressed up a little bit before heading out to dinner to celebrate.

I had called to make reservations and was surprised to learn reservations were not needed. We understood why, when we arrived to only a few cars in the parking lot.

We were greeted by the owner when we arrived. She had seen me take pictures and was curious as to why. I gladly explained why we were there and what I was doing.

We hadn’t been inside since it was The Cottage restaurant. Velvet’s is very tastefully decorated and the main fireplace has a beautiful tribute on it.

We were seated in an alcove, presented menus and ordered water to start. Ray and I were both surprised at the small menu and what seemed like rather high prices.

We ordered an appetizer of hush puppies. They came with honey butter and what I think was raspberry habanero jam. It was good but a little too hot for my liking. I like spicy, not just hot. This was pushing the end of the spectrum for me.

The menu was interesting. I am not a collard greens fan and a salad was not an option, so it limited my choice to chicken wing pieces and fries.

Ray ordered the red beans and rice with andouille sausage, and chicken wings. We thought about cornbread but opted out.

We did not see a drink menu, so at first we thought they did not have a liquor license. Upon inquiring our server brought us a drink menu. I went exotic and ordered a hurricane. Ray ordered a glass of Rose’. With two kinds of rum I expected to taste more rum than I did. At a cost of $17.00 I did not order another.

Ray’s red beans and rice was served first ahead of the rest of our meal. I asked for a taste and I am pretty sure I got the only piece of meat. Ray said all he tasted were the beans and rice. No meat. They had good flavor but the lack of meat was a little disappointing to him.

The chicken was wonderful!!! Nice big wing pieces with a crispy crust and well seasoned, same with the steak fries. I am a chicken wing snob! When I say they were good, they were awesome!! I took half of mine home for my next meal.

I wanted dessert so I chose the beignets with the bourbon caramel sauce. They were delicate, light, crisp and the sauce was divine.

Dinner was very good. I want to come back for the catfish.

To Ray and me this is a restaurant for special occasions. It is a little too pricey for a spur of the moment dinner grab. I will definitely work another dinner at Velvet’s into my budget.

When you walk into the restaurant, you were instantly taken back to New Orleans. The service is incredible. If you get the opportunity, please talk to Miss Miller. She is a beautiful woman and a wonderful cook. We had a variety of food and loved every bite. We will definitely be back.
