Such a great addition to this food court 🙂 The flavors are just as I remember at their other Torrance branch however the tempura pieces were not as crispy (I think they make it to order but maybe I’m wrong?) I also tried the beef sukiyaki, good but not memorable. All in all a good lunch

I like the bowl. Food was good.
My biggest complaint is their menu display. They had three monitors with two displayed their menu. However, I don’t have enough time to read their description below the unclear food graphics. The menu video has jumped to an ad about downloading their app in a couple seconds.
And they only have one order machine with real food photos. People are scrolling through the order machine to view the menu plus ordering and paying.
It would be great if they can have their menu shown somewhere without jumping to the next page or moving around. (And with the real food photo)
It could save so much time on ordering. I really don’t want to download the app 🙂

This is an updated review.
When this place first opened, it was excellent. However, I feel that Carlos Jr. should focus more on quality control, as it seems expansion has become the priority. It reminds me of the old Hannosuke in Torrance, where Carlos Jr. used to work.

Since it is just a small shop located in the food court and not an official store, it feels difficult to compare with the main store. The tempura made is obviously not crispy enough. However, this place has just opened, and I hope they can make more improvements in the future.

We ended up waiting in line for more ten minutes because the woman in front of us was asking detailed questions about the menu. I don’t mind that she was genuinely interested in how the owner prepares the dishes, but the cashier and the owner were unprofessional in how they handled the situation. They seemed to ignore the fact that other customers were waiting. One man eventually got upset and interrupted their conversation, and only then did they finally realize there were people waiting and start helping the rest of us.

If this place is anything like their restaurant, they deserve to fail. Their service is the worst service of any restaurant related to Japan I have ever been to. These restaurants deserve to bankrupt and the owners should be ashamed for starting such a crappy business in the first place.

“Major disappointment. The food is incredibly oily, with burnt residue on the batter—a clear sign of old oil and untrained staff. They’ve also downgraded their ingredients (Cod instead of Aji, Mushrooms instead of Scallops) while keeping the brand name. It’s lost its soul and its standards. Save your money and go somewhere that actually cares about culinary basics.”

Definitely overpriced for a food court, besides it’s not even that good as it says. I had better tempuras at many other places. A little disappointing tbh..
