I came here for a quick lunch ordered chicken tacos with a co-worker. He ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito. The tacos came with very little meat in them. Also two lumps of fat and it wasn’t chicken. Neither of them were my buddy’s breakfast. Burrito was completely loaded with potatoes pretty much only found a few pieces of tiny scraps of chorizo in there. Maybe we ordered the wrong stuff..

I made a spontaneous stop at LA Tacos in Peoria for lunch and ordered the carne asada loaded fries. This dish was a revelation.

The fries were hot, fresh, and crispy, while the carne asada was seasoned to perfection with cumin, garlic, and onions, so tender. The shredded Monterey Jack cheese and sour cream added a creamy texture, while the slightly spicy cheese sauce complemented the dish beautifully. I opted for guacamole and pico de gallo on the side, realizing they could be spicy. They were not but were very flavorful and were clearly made in house. My friend had the Lengua burrito, which was filled with large, tender chunks of beef tongue. She said the flavor reminded her of her childhood.

The restaurant boasted a salsa bar with a variety of heat levels. My portion was so generous that I’ll be enjoying the leftovers for dinner. As I brought my fork closer to my mouth, I could smell the smoky aroma of the perfectly seared meat. This hidden gem is definitely worth another visit

I lived on the same block as LA Tacos for 4 years and have enjoyed their food all along and the family that owns this place put their everything into it, day in and out. My son and I love the Al Pastor street tacos, especially. Only $1.50 on Tuesdays and even when not on special they are worth every penny. Have since moved a little further but we happily drive over when the cravings hit. Highly recommend!

What an amazing menu and from the lunch I had so good. I had the Tortas Adobado. So small and clean from front to back. Good spot to grab breakfast or lunch. But a great choice for takeout for a crowd. I had to go out and around to wash up but that’s because they really care about keeping things clean and fresh.

Boycott any of the Bertos’ joints, come try this place.

Pros: Home made food! I CAN’T EXPRESS THAT ENOUGH.
I got the California Burrito, Carne Asada Fries and the 5 Rolled Beef Tacos. The meat is not fatty and cheap like at other Bertos’ locations. Deliciously seasoned and spiced.
The rolled tacos aren’t small microwaveable lookalikes, instead they’re sizeable and filling. Their Salsa bar is delightful as well (He wasn’t kidding about that red sauce oooowee). Most importantly, above their delicious home made cooking, their prices are outstandingly low and affordable.

Cons: More like minor inconveniences…
They do not have a drive through, so yes you’ll need to get out of your vehicle and actually go in (oh no).
Small hole in the wall, but wasn’t busy. Potential for seating to be limited, but not in my experience.
Home made cooking, means slightly longer wait time but your patience will be rewarded with delicious food.

10/10 recommend. Try it out. They’re not getting the business they deserve!

Ps. Fortune cookie is for size comparison.

Absolutely the best fish taco shop this side of California. I’ve been to so many taco shops this place actually gets the fish tacos right. Light crispy breading, fresh tilapia fish, perfect light creamy sauce and fresh pico. I’ll definitely be coming back here.
