First time dining here and the food was delicious! We came at a pretty busy time so the sushi took a bit of time to come out, but we usually eat sushi pretty fast instead of leisurely eating each piece. Our server told us that there are some off-menu pieces since the menu is quite small so definitely ask what else they have available. The Japanese Julep was so good! Highly recommend ordering that drink. Having akami with caviar is such a good idea! It enhances the flavor so much.

Delicious every time! Our waiter was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about each dish/menu option. Chef Hugo has some of the best sushi dishes I have tasted. The staff is always kind and accommodating as well. One of the few places we’re the beautiful atmosphere is met with equally delicious food. From rolls (makimono) to nigiri or sashimi, you really can’t go wrong with any choice you make. My personal favorites were the ocean trout nigiri (salmon) and the maguro crudo. The drinks here are phenomenal as well and before ending your night, you should definitely check out Bar Doko right across the walk way. 10/10, very satisfied and can’t wait to return ❤️

This intimate restaurant is perfect for small to medium size groups
Make sure you get your reservation, since it’s a small place you don’t want to be waiting for a table
Our expectations were surpassed, there was nothing to I could say needed some improvement
We ordered: Gyozas , Edamame (a must!), sushi, skewers, sashimi, dessert and a cocktail, we fell in love with the food!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Doko a few times, and each experience was an absolute delight! The sushi was fresh and flavorful; it melts in your mouth, while the hot dishes, like the chicken fat rice, reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking. What truly stood out was the attentive staff, who showcased their expertise with thoughtful recommendations tailored to my taste. The ambiance is charmingly retro, making it a perfect destination for date nights, vibrant happy hours, or even those all-important power lunches. Doko is definitely a gem worth visiting!

Made reservations for a Saturday night and it had a decent crowd for 9pm. Since it was already late, we decided we didn’t want to overindulge but we also wanted to try some of their staples. The service was great and the foo came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed everything we ordered except maybe for the tuna roll, it was nothing to write home about. Will definitely be back!

Lovely experience, love the concept. The bar has couple booths, which is cute. Love the vibrant orange and the service was good. Food wise, good to try but nothing too special for Houston. Ordered the tasting menu and the quantity to quality for the price is a little steep. The flavors were all there but I would be going to other sushi places first before this one again. I enjoyed the non sushi platters more. For convenience, this place is quite nice.

Overall? An okay experience that left us heading to a second restaurant just to actually eat. The portions were microscopic, and our server didn’t give us the heads up to order more. Normally we would have, but with a 20–40 minute lag between plates, we just ran out of patience. Most of the meal was mediocre and salty, though I’ll give credit where it’s due: the milk tea tiramisu was a total standout. It’s a shame the rest of the night didn’t taste that good.

Visiting from Alabama, I had to try DOKO, and wow, it did not disappoint! I went on Sunday during the Matcha pop-up, and I didn’t even think I liked matcha… but this was incredible.
We ordered almost everything on the menu. The service was top-notch, our server Thien was so attentive and incredibly knowledgeable about the fish. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and I’m not sure I’ve ever had sushi this fresh.
Do yourself a favor and go visit this place. You will not be disappointed! ✨

Doko has quickly become one of my absolute favorite spots in Houston. The food is always fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor . A huge shout-out to Thein, who took care of us and made the experience even better. He was attentive without ever hovering, incredibly friendly, and genuinely elevated the entire meal. It’s rare to find service that feels this thoughtful.
