Local chain serving barbecued meats & sides (plus breakfast) in a no-frills, counter-serve setting.

Simple interior, modest decoration. Friendly service. Table service for dine-in. Soda machine for drink refills. Food was decent. The brisket was a little dry. The ribs were a bit undercooked. The sandwiches were excellent. It’s nice to have the condiment station with the pickles, carrots, jalapenos, salsa, lemons and limes. The sides were tasty; creamy macaroni and cheese, potato salad had mustard and mayonnaise, green beans had ham bits, creamed corn and cole slaw were all very good. The banana pudding was real good. Beer and bottled sodas, including Mexican Coke, are available. I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

I was a little skeptical trying out this San Antonio area chain. But it did not disappoint. I got the Sloppy Mo’s sandwich and it was meaty and saucy just how I like a chopped brisket sandwich. The brisket and sauce had good flavor with a tiny bit of kick. (Trust me… it’s just the right amount of kick… I couldn’t do it if it was super spicy.) The creamed corn was the perfect side – slightly sweet and very tasty. The portions of both the sandwich and the side were small. It looked like I got the child’s plate. But I only spent $13 for a sandwich, side, and a drink. And at a BBQ joint that’s practically free. Hats off to Mo and his great Sunday evening supper… I’ll be back!

The cashier, Kennedy was the best. She was very sweet & patient with my daughters. I got the brisket sandwich lunch special with creamed corn & it was delicious.

I ordered a full chicken for pickup and it was ready quickly. I really appreciated that it came already cut, which felt like a nice extra touch. The chicken was very tender and moist, and overall I really liked it. I would give it 5 out of 5, but there was an excessive amount of black pepper, which I personally do not like at all, not even a little. It would be great to have an option for people who do not enjoy spicy or heavily seasoned food. Aside from that, everything was great. I will try the BBQ next time and hopefully it is not spicy.

Food was old and gross. Brisket was extremely dry. Ribs were just as bad. Call to let them know and lady said she finds that hard to believe cause they been cooking all day.

You will never be let down by this place. Their barbecue is mouthwatering and savory. Their mac & cheese is so heavenly comforting to the soul. I usually come here to eat and pick up a to go of brisket and mac & cheese. I was recommended by a coworker to go to Rudy’s barbecue and grill. I was so disappointed with that other restaurant as their mac & cheese was extremely dry that I went to Smoky Mo’s to buy my mac & cheese. I showed Smoky Mo’s restaurant cashier a photo of Rudy’s mac & cheese and even he was shocked how dry it looked. Stick with Smoky Mo‘s, and you will never be let down

This was my 1st time @ Smokey Joes-walking in the atmosphere is very cozy & clean. Employees super friendly. Now let’s talk about the food- brisket, sausage, turkey& pork juicy & delicious. Brisket lean & flavors so good. I also ordered cream corn, beans & mac & cheese. All sides perfectly made. Oh! My bake potato was so big. “Yes” I’m a tea drinker & was happy to see them checking to make sure it’s full! I would definitely come back, i forgot to mention You can sit outside.

This was my first Smokey MO’s in San Antonio. Inside it looked new, was clean, and well lit. Ordered the one meat plate with sliced brisket, cream corn, green beans, and ice tea. Order was delivered to my table in short time. The brisket was tender and tasty, the green beans were seasoned nicely, the cream corn with a sprinkle is cheese on the top was sweet. Overall everything was above my expectations and I very much enjoyed dining here.

Wanted to have BBQ to celebrate my birthday at home. Ordered the Small Family indicating it feeds 3 to 5 people. Got home only to find enough meat (3 choices) to feed 2 people. To pay over $75 for this is absolutely ridiculous. Feel extremely robbed for this meal, was hoping new location, first time trying the experience would be great. Ends up being very subpar for the price. Follow-up to the owner: Regardless what you’re saying, if the customer is ordering a family meal one expects plenty of food especially for the price I paid (to include a generous tip). The picture clearly shows what was received from the order. I received two chicken breasts and one drumstick, pork belly slices, brisket slices. The rest are sides and extra BBQ sauce. The menu does not show any picture of what to expect, only what you’re repeating. Take into account how a customer may be placing their order (as in the passenger in the car that’s driving to the restaurant to pick up food and go) and what menu they may be looking at. If you’re indicating you’re there to help walk through an order, then the employees should be trained to know to ask when someone is ordering the Family Packs to ask for more details or explain what your description of what the average adult will consume.

I stopped by Smokie Mo’s BBQ and walked out beyond satisfied. Everything I ordered hit the spot.
Chopped Beef Sandwich:
Tender, juicy, and full of that slow-smoked flavor you want from real Texas BBQ. The meat was seasoned perfectly—not too salty, not too sweet—and piled high. Every bite had that rich smoky depth that lets you know they take their time with the pit.
Jalapeño Sausage Sandwich:
This one was the surprise star. The snap on the sausage was perfect, and the jalapeño heat was just right—not overpowering, but enough to wake up your taste buds. Combined with the smoky flavor and soft bun, it was top-tier.
Brisket Spud:
A whole meal by itself. The potato was fluffy, the toppings were generous, and the brisket added that melt-in-your-mouth quality. Smokie Mo’s brisket is legit—tender with that beautiful bark and smoke ring. Every bite had flavor.
Overall, Smokie Mo’s delivered quality, flavor, and real Texas BBQ done right. I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
