Our waitress was very friendly & attentive. Food was fresh & looked nice, came out in decent amount of time after ordering. I liked the presentation of the octopus ceviche & tasted great. We liked everything we ordered. My husband picked this place bc of a menu he saw online but unfortunately none of those items were on the current menu. The garlic sauce with the shrimp was delicious. The tres Leche would be better without the strawberry & chocolate sauce. We order that whenever we see it out & like it traditional.

It has been a long while since I have been to a place this hit or miss food-wise. The Moroccan lamb skewers and wild mushrooms were great, the manchego tortellini and grilled street corn were memorable, but everything else we ordered at one Michelin star prices (our food was about $200 including tip) was mid, forgettable, or just plain weird. I would skip the 5 pan con tomate, stuffed pepadews, beef empanadas, and octopus ceviche next time, because, in my opinion, they were competent but had no real spark to them. I would skip the Spanish mussels since they were next-to-impossible to get out of the shell and just order the gambas al ajillo only if really in the mood for shrimp, as the sauce was mid. What was so weird to me is that the gambas, mussels, and paella valenciana (!) were all drowning in the same mid marinara-like sauce. The paella valenciana, in my opinion, was just straight up false advertising; not only was the texture was all wrong, with the wildly out of place red sauce turning the dish to mush, it had mussels in it for some reason and no rabbit, the traditional signature of the dish. I kind of left the restaurant feeling like I had been robbed, but I will say that the ambiance they created was very on point. The tables were spacious and well-separated, the decor was very nice, and the vibe was quiet and comfortable. They did have screens but tastefully done with subtitles only; it turned out my date was able to watch some Olympic figure skating she had been wanting to catch which was cool. The service was fine but should have been perfect for the amount of money we paid, at the very least they should have staggered the presentation appropriately instead of trying to dump everything on our table at once.

Good news, bad news. The croquettes and tuna tartar were delicious. The olives and octopus were okay. The paella was terrible. The menu lists all these ingredients that were clearly not included. The chicken breast on top was hammered. The dish was very oily and there was no socorrat which is the quintessential paella characteristic. I’m sure it’s not easy to train staff how to do this well so take it off the menu until you get it right.

Octobar is one of my favorite spots in Federal Hill! Not only for its incredible food and drink selection, but for its truly outstanding service. I had to plan a last-minute going-away party, and Octavio made the entire process completely seamless. He handled every detail, from arranging the bartender to creating a custom drink menu featuring our favorite cocktails, and even made it easy for everyone to pay their tabs individually. The experience was truly one of a kind. I highly recommend booking Octobar whether you’re planning a night out for dinner and drinks or hosting a special gathering.

We decided to check this out during the Olympics so that we could watch the events but also get some slightly fancy dining on a Saturday. The interior is cozy but well decorated and has plenty of seats for a smaller bar. We didn’t explore the upstairs but there is a staircase in the center. They also had plenty of outdoor seats. We decided to focus on the specials and tried the grilled octopus dish which was fantastic, it came with some nicely grilled veggies and a delicious spread of hummus which all came together for a very balanced and flavorful bite. As a side we opted for the couscous instead of fries or rice. The couscous was nicely seasoned and came with veggies as well. All in all it was a delicious, balanced and healthy meal that was excellently prepared!

Was curious about this place for the longest time, and I’m glad I tried it! We had the: croquettes, octopus ceviche, ostrich tartare, and basil pesto tortellini. All of the dishes were a hit, especially the tortellini, but they were definitely overpriced for their portion sizes. In my dining experiences, true mediterranean tapas are about half the price, but I get that this is an American city’s spin on the cuisine. I thought that they did pretty well and incorporated some interesting ingredients.
Although they were not very busy (even at about 5pm on a Friday), the service was quite slow, and we had to go up to the bar to ask for more water each time. I think we only saw our server twice: to order and to pay. However this did not greatly impede our experience, and I think we will be back to try out some new dishes.

The food was really good, it says that it’s a Spanish restaurant, and they certainly have Spanish dishes, but I will call a mix cuisine, not everything was spanish. The entrance can be a little confusing because it’s nobody there (at least when we went) The environment is nice, it has its own vibe. We like it!

Octobar was our choice for a surprise 50th Birthday party for my sister- We had 31 people and utilized their 2 rooms upstairs. They also had a bathroom upstairs. There food was extremely delicious. We had there buffet style food and let me tell you it was amazing.
Octavia and his staff were very attentive and full of high energy. He really made our party a memorable occasion. Best service!
My family and I couldn’t be more happier. I highly recommend anyone looking to host an event call Octobar and speak to Carol Wright or Octavia!
Thank you Octobar for making my sister’s 50th Birthday the best.

We recently hosted a birthday party upstairs at Octobar, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. Octavio went above and beyond with his selection of light bites for our buffet, and every single dish was a hit with our guests.
Our bartender for the evening, Adalina, was amazing and attentive. If you’re thinking about hosting a party or event, I can’t recommend Octobar enough. They made the whole experience effortless and memorable. Events aside, they’re also just a great restaurant, with amazing food and drinks (including the best happy hour specials) and a warm, inviting atmosphere. We will be regulars here for a long time to come!

A new spot that we’ve been trying to go here since it opened. Very “Octo” themed and has the decor to go with it. It has a nice bar downstairs with tables in the back. Walk upstairs and you’ll find a quaint room with more tables and a very nice separate bar for private parties or as an additional bar. Everything we tasted was great and the presentation was a delight to the eyes. You have to try the octopus ceviche and the ostrich tartar. The drinks were very tasty as well and everything was adequately priced. We’re going to add this spot to our dinner outing rotation and bring our supper club members. Definitely the best spot we’ve been to in the past year.
