We were told that the food here was top notch. So we were expecting above average bar food; as this is an Irish Bar. We were given a menu, which is not something you normally get at a bar. We were very surprised by the items! Even more surprised by the quality of food!
The food that we ate was better than any fancy, cloth napkin restaurant we have been to. We all ordered different dishes and every one was a banger! And this is a one person show people!
The owner not only took orders, served drinks and chit chatted with us, but he also did all the cooking! And no one was neglected when other customers showed up! Holy cow!
Lastly, to mention the drinks. My wife ordered a black and tan, and it was actually made properly. Meaning, the 2 beers did not mix together. He made the black and tan to look like a drink that had a black beer and a tan beer in one glass! Dude!
Cannot gush about this place enough! Feel free to check it out yourself, because you won’t be disappointed 🙂

Limericks was a perfect stop for an evening drink or for supper. It is a small place and is maybe missing a little bit of cozy ambiance but that is also what makes it charming. Bloody Mary’s were made with some extra love. I would say top 3 in the state for tastiest Bloody Mary. The tap beer was clean and delicious. The biggest surprise for us was the Irish Stew. It brought me back to Ireland with the first spoonful. The staff was down to earth, friendly, and made you feel like you were important no matter how busy they were. It’s a must stop for our future visits.

This bar and restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is consistently amazing — their Reuben is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly grilled, packed with flavor, and just the right balance of savory and tangy. Every time I stop in, I find something else to love on the menu.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, a perfect mix of cozy and energetic. Whether you’re out for a casual drink, dinner with friends, or just grabbing a bite solo, it feels like the kind of place where everyone is welcome.

What really sets this place apart, though, is the people. The owner is incredibly friendly and truly cares about the customer experience. The staff are just as welcoming — attentive, upbeat, and genuinely happy to be there.

Loving the new location too — it’s got a fresh vibe, plenty of space, and still retains all the charm that made me fall in love with this place to begin with.

Can’t recommend it enough. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and check it out!

We enjoyed a relaxing delicous dinner for 6 before a show at the Grand. Salads were amazing, mac and cheese with chicken was devoured and the Reubens were oustanding. The shepard pie was throughly enjoyed, no leftovers. We enjoyed a few black and tans that were well poured. It is nice to have great food, drink and conversations so close to all the activity.

Food was amazing! We had the pot roast sliders, bangers and mash and the Ruben. It was exceptional! We were treated like old friends. The ambience was super cozy and we lingered for a beer after dinner, which is not normal for us. We will be repeat customers here! What a gem!!

Limericks is one of the most charming little Irish pubs in the area. The menu items tastes like authentic, homemade comfort food—those secret family recipes you won’t find anywhere else in Wausau. But what really draws me in isn’t just the menu alone. It’s the feel of the place: a cozy corner pub with a locals-only warmth, familiar faces, and zero college-bar chaos. It’s the kind of spot where you can grab a pint, enjoy a genuinely great meal, and settle into good company—maybe even leave with a few new friends. This is at the top of my list of places to visit in Wausau.

We stopped in before a concert this last Tuesday. Service was top notch (especially for one person taking care of everything). The Shepherd’s Pie was exceptional. Not something that is usually at the top of my list to order….but definitely 10 out of 10 here. Good job all around!

Skip this place. Apparently this place has moved from previous location and is just not set up to handle business unless you are just ordering a drink. I went in the place because their menu items looked good online but unfortunately this place was a one man show trying to do everything. I simply wanted to place a simple to-go order for a ruben. The bar tender , who was the only one there after they opened on a SATURDAY when it’s the weekend, was slow to take my order. I had to really go out of my way to get his attention, he then tried to take someone else’s drink order when I had already been waiting 10 minutes already before that customer. He then made a comment that ‘ it wouldn’t matter anyway because he was the only one there’ , then he took my order on a paper ticket and set it down so I could wait some more. At that point I walked out. The place is very boring and plain inside as well with no decor, with the exception of a live band some days. Not sure how they wait on customers who want to sit in a booth and actually want to be waited on. Really good luck to this place if this is how you normally operate , especially on a weekend with downtown wausau already becoming as get-to as it is with everyone driving by who feels the need to ‘pop off’ in some way. What happened to wausau…

After a day of skiing visited Limericks and both had Shepherd’s Pie. Tasty and filling. Veggies, meat and potatoes were authentic and all prepared in the kitchen. I have an English and Australian background, so familiar with how the dish should present and taste. Cannot get back soon enough! Owner plans to relocate nearby to a place with more foot traffic.

Hands down, you cannot find a better Reuben anywhere. The other Irish choices are top notch as well. Ran by the nicest couple ever, your experience here is always pleasurable and personal when it comes to service. Prices could double and it would still well worth the value. I hope this establishment never changes. Side note, come on Tuesday night at 7pm for and fun and relaxed team trivia game.
