I had a combo platter of grilled shrimp and scallops with fried oysters, a loaded potatoe, and a Caeser salad. Everything was cooked, oiled, and seasoned perfectly. It’s quite rare that I see no room for improvement in a meal, but I am completely satisfied. My only recommendation is to brew the tea 5 degrees colder, as it had a slight dry aftertaste in the first glass. The service, atmosphere, and pricing were also excellent.

Arthur Paul’s in Orangeburg is the best restaurant in Orangeburg. The chef is not a cook. He’s a chef. The food is amazing. Everything cooked to perfection. I’m from NY. And his food is as good as any steak and seafood in the top restaurants. If you have a special occasion or your a trucker passing through. And you want a really good meal. This is where you should go.

It’s hard to find but worth it! Atmosphere is not terribly fancy but still nice and relaxed. It’s obvious that someone (owner) is making an effort. Food was very good. Hubby had broiled flounder and I had broiled scallops. Scallops were not swimming in butter (which I don’t need) and we’re tender, not chewy. Usual sides at other restaurants, like loaded baked potatoes and fried okra, cost extra. The green beans were canned but seasoned and tasty. My only disappointment was that the mashed potatoes were definitely instant. (The reason for four stars) Now I know why they were typically served with gravy–to mask that “instant” taste. (Gravy with seafood?? No thanks.) Steaks served to neighboring tables looked good and seemed reasonably priced. We had to wait a little long for our food but the waitress “kept in touch” and apologized for the wait. They also had a large private party/group in the back room. All the staff were very nice. We will be back. Maybe I’ll splurge on steak, okra and a baked potato!

I can’t say enough about this restaurant! We are locals and can honestly say this is the best food in Orangeburg!. Quality and proportions of food are A+. Service is outstanding! I pride myself on posting accurate reviews, fair and often generous when able. The only saving grace at Athurs was the waitress.
I ordered cod, it’s a very delicate bottom feeding Atlantic white fish, succulent, sweet but not this. The dry weight was maybe 2 ounces and it came overcooked in 5 ounces of cornmeal batter, tough, over cooked.
My wife ordered scallops, she received 12 ounces of bay scallops (an extremely generous portion by any standards), previously frozen* and on the verge of spoiled.
The salad she received was small but well presented so we were hopeful. The cole slaw was inedible. It was raw cabbage seasoned with oil, celery seed and salt (way to much celery seed).
In a diabetic and took me insulin prior to going in, I had to eat something, the sweet potato fries from Food Lion were ok, I ate one thumb size piece of cod and broke the other open to get an accurate photo. Our entire bill was 47.00 for two people, no alcoholic beverages, just seltzer water that was flat
*Bay scallops (any previously frozen seafood) if thawed properly can still be a delight to eat. They can never be thawed in a microwave and must be dry before cooking in an oiled very hot saute pan,pan fried until golden brown.
Cod, fried cod, must also be thawed properly, dried and cooked in a light airy beer batter, never a corn meal batter (although a table spoon of cornstarch in the batter can make them extra crispy).
If you cannot turn enough product to do it justice, don’t serve it.
These folks maybe some of the nicest in Orangeburg but sadly we won’t be returning.

If your feel you must defend your product against an objective review, as I’ve noticed you have, often it comes off in poor taste. The average person is not confrontational. If the product in question requires a manager to come to the table, it’s already awkward. I wish every establishment the very best and that goes with this one as well.

Scallops were delicious. Fries were great. Salad dressing was overly done. Chicken was dry. Lobster was undercooked. Overall, it wasn’t as good as I expected.

This place is incredible I myself had a delicious burger and fries but that wasn’t even the best part, the best part was the orange cranberry cake which had to have some of the most delicious icing in the world thank you to whoever makes that the owner even gave us a couple of homemade Rice crispy treats on the house and they were delicious as well, if I’m in the area again I’ll be sure to stop by Arthur Paul’s and grab some great grub!

My family and I tried Arthur Paul’s for the first time today and are adding it to the regular dinner rotation!
We were greeted by friendly faces and a comfortable atmosphere when we walked in. After seating ourselves, Carly came over to walk us through recommendations and take our drink order. There are not enough words to describe how personable and helpful she was during our visit! Carly provided exceptional service and friendly, brief conversation. She didn’t spend too long at the table nor did she abandon us without refills at any time. It was impeccable service.
Two of us had pasta, one did steak, and the other the seafood platter. This gave a comprehensive idea of the menu and nothing disappointed! A true highlight is the homemade steak sauce which our picky eater was in love with.
This was a wonderful experience for a very reasonable price for a family of four. We’ll be back, and hopefully we have Carly again!
