I recently hired Caliente Mexican Grill to cater my son’s high school graduation party. I was a little nervous at first, as I’ve only ever eaten at their restaurant before, and I wasn’t sure how the food would translate to a large event. However, I was completely blown away by the quality of the food, service, and presentation.
The food was absolutely delicious. My guests raved about it, and I even had a few people tell me that they had never had Mexican food that good before. The portions were generous, and we had so much food that we could have easily fed another 10 people. The food was also fresh and tasted homemade.
The service was also top-notch. The catering crew that prepared the food was friendly and attentive, and they made sure that everything was perfect. They were also very interested in getting feedback on the food, which I thought was a nice touch.
Overall, I was incredibly impressed with Caliente Mexican Grill’s catering services. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable catering option.
PS: The location of the restaurant is in a bit of an older shopping center that needs TLC, but don’t let that deter you. The food is worth the trip!

Tucked away behind the URI campus is a variety of stores, cafes, and restaurants that serve the needs of the average URI college student. Though these places are open year round and are important to the larger community. Caliente Mexican Grill is one of these places.
While I consider Rhode Island to have a fairly strong Latin American food influence, Calient falls into a class of Mexican food restaurant that doesn’t suffer from the standardization of a national chain. At a national chain, I can know what I want to order because I have had it before, but when I go to Caliente, I get to explore the menu items that a local chef decided upon. To be successful and to compete with many of the other restaurants in a crowded market, that’s a good sign!
I decided on the taco deal that they offered. I believe the menu item was Street Tacos. To a hungry man, they were delicious! The summer is a good time to visit because there is less of a college-student line, but the food is still fresh.

Excellent casual Mexican restaurant if you’re looking for a quick bite. I had a steak burrito which was filling and delicious. Service was super quick. Within walking distance of University of Rhode Island, so great place for students.

I was in line today ordering a wet burrito and this guy that took my order for the cold section was really stingy with the toppings. He was doing the tiniest pinches of everything, especially guacamole. The serving size of the guacamole was less than a plastic spoon. I asked if he could put more than that but he said it’ll be an extra charge. Very unprofessional and unethical. As I watched the people order after me he gave them normal portion sizes. Very upset, this restaurant gets worse and worse over time, first it was price inflation now it’s just being stingy with ingredients.
Response: I understand that, but I’m still a customer that comes here regularly, I’ve worked at chipotle before. It was the fact that even the first topping I asked for was a teaspoon worth of cheese, not even after the 2nd or 3rd thing I asked for, and there was little to know guacamole present. Plus instead of giving me Chip bag like normal, they threw chips into the same bowl as my order to save a bag or save like 5 pieces of chips.

Not your average burrito joint! This place got creative and the results are fantastic. I got the Pipeline (grilled steak, rice, grilled pineapple, onions, mushrooms, sesame seeds and teriyaki sauce) and it was one of the tastiest burritos I’ve ever had. All high-quality ingredients and a good value at $10. Wish I lived closer!
