I would recommend to go for the first services to make sure to get a table by the table bar to enjoy the chefs cooking.
Service was also very attentive with two waiters attending ten diners.
The only thing that was off for me was that there was no sake menu, and so I missed one of the dish’s presentation while deciding in front of the sake fridge; also a bit unusual was the sake being served in wine glasses, which I’ve never encountered before. It’s a bit strange for the sake to seem like an afterthought at an omakase, when it could just be incorporated into the wine list
One of the most amazing Okamase experiences ever. Congratulations to Chef Koike, Chef Raju and the amazing staff!! Thank you so much for such a beautiful experience!!!
Mitsu did not disappoint one bit. Each dish is immaculately presented and bursting with unique flavor. The Wagyu Beef is absolutely the best I’ve ever had and the sashimi dish was incredible.
Chefs attention to detail is second to none. I will definitely return when I’m in Lisbon, hopefully in November! I hope to learn more Japanese and maybe some Portuguese too by then
The food quality was outstanding—each course was crafted with precision, balance, and incredible freshness. The chef’s selection showcased both creativity and deep respect for traditional Japanese technique. Every bite felt like a work of art, and the progression of flavors was perfectly curated. The fish was unbelievably fresh, the textures delicate, and the presentation impeccable.
What truly elevated the evening was the chef’s passion and engagement; their explanations added depth and meaning to each dish, making the experience even more special. The pacing was perfect, and the atmosphere calm, intimate, and beautifully designed.
This omakase is a true gem—worth every moment and every course. I left feeling inspired, satisfied, and excited to return. Highly recommended for anyone seeking top-tier Japanese cuisine and exceptional service!
This was not just a dinner; it was a true culinary journey, guided by the artistic vision of Chef Shinya Koike.
“Mitsu” in Japanese means “flavour” and “sweetness,” and Chef Koike extracts every last milligram of flavour from his ultra-fresh ingredients. With remarkable talent, he blends them into an extraordinary tasting experience unlike anything else.
Mitsu is an omakase restaurant where you sit directly in front of the chef and watch him work with precision, speed, and delicacy. It is an incredible spectacle in itself.
The freshness of the tuna, sea bass, and sea bream was exceptional—the fish must have been swimming in the sea only hours before we sat down. Chef Koike even manages to present the same fish in multiple expressions, using different cuts, some smoked and others lightly dried, each revealing new dimensions of flavour. This alone is quite unbelievable.
The service was excellent, and our exchanges with the sous-chef were both warm and informative. There is a fine selection of wines and, of course, sake.
Chef Koike is a man of few words, but every time you express delight—your taste buds exploding with new textures and flavours, portion after portion—you can see his eyes light up and a subtle smile appear. It’s clear how deeply it warms him to know the pleasure he brings to his guests.
Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had—better than any of the multiple Michelin-star restaurants we have dined in. Mitsu will soon be in the little red book, mark my words.
Thank you to Chef Koike and his team. We will most certainly be back.
The sushi is prepared with precision, respect for technique, and an uncompromising focus on quality ingredients. Every detail — from the perfect rice texture to the delicate seasoning — shows the skill and dedication of the team. The menu goes far beyond sushi as well, with seasonal dishes that feel both refined and comforting.
What I loved most is that Mitsu doesn’t try to be flashy. It’s understated, intimate, and focused on delivering an honest, high-level Japanese dining experience. If you’re looking for real Japanese food in Lisbon, made by Japanese chefs with tradition at its heart, Mitsu is the place.
