They changed everything. Menu is different and selections are new and less appealing. The ramen bowl taste different, the noodles taste like dollar store noodles. The broth has less flavor. The popcorn is tally replaced with little tasteless chicken balls. The popcorn chicken is cheap microwaved and I wouldn’t even serve it to my kids.

The shrimp tempura are smaller. Then are out of waffle fries. Then have the audacity to keep everything the same price and it was not good at all.

Then they added other stuff that was not with the vibe of the place. I love tacos but this is a ramen place not street tacos.

The only thing that tasted good was the Katsu chicken even though they replaced the cooked broccoli with baby cold carrots.

$70 bucks for what I have been eating for over 3 years to change abruptly. We won’t be back so disappointing

The restaurant has changed but their website and online order still has old pictures. I have come here for years and always ordered the popcorn chicken. They were really good! Now they have changed it to chicken nuggets not full chicken pieces. The picture is what I received and the screenshot is what is still on their online ordering site. Owners, please update this so that people are not disappointed.

Update (10/25/2025): (currently 3 stars overall)

My wife and I decided to stop by T-Kumi for an early lunch around 11am on Saturday and to our surprise the whole menu was different. I realized they had gone through an ownership change over the summer and they now serve some Mexican food such as chilaquiles rojo, tacos, birria tacos and birria ramen. They still offer ramen and some of the appetizers and some drinks, but got rid of a lot of old drinks/boba. They do now offer Jarritos drinks. I was hoping they kept the same ramen recipes, but they are different now. We got our food To-Go, but did eat some of the food in the restaurant because we were in a hurry as we had to go to Sacramento to make a conference.

The Good: They do still carry some of the menu items from the old T-Kumi. The dining are looks very similar to the old one, but seems to be a lot cleaner. They offer Mexican Food now (questionable if that is good or not).

The Bad: A lot of the original menu items are gone. They do not use the same recipe as the original T-Kumi as the ramen broth (tonkatsu) tastes different, there are less ingredients and the egg was overcooked (past medium boiled, supposed to be soft boiled). The Pork Katsu doesn’t not taste like Asian Pork Katsu, just a fried piece of pork with bland seasoning with some sliced takuan (picked daikon), whole mini carrots and edamame. The popcorn chicken is also lacking flavor unlike the more flavorful Asian seasoning from before. There is not much in terms of service. No one greets you when you walk in (I saw multiple customers come in and order through the kiosk) and I am not sure if you can even order from a person as majority of the time there is no one in the front, so you will just have to wave someone over if they haven to come out of the kitchen. They had just opened for the day, so I don’t think their broths were ready as it did take about 25 minutes to get our food. People who came later seemed to get their food faster.

With such a drastic change in the menu items and changes in flavors, my opinion is that they should have just changed the restaurant name and rebrand instead of keeping the T-Kumi name. It’s really just a whole different restaurant now. Hopefully in time their food and service will get better. Their ramen used to be my favorite, but now will just stick with Ramen 101 until I can find another good ramen place.

Previous Review (7 months prior): (4.1 stars overall)

It’s been a while since I have been to T-Kumi, but I keep coming back to have their Ramen. I just really like their broth (Tonkatsu is my favorite) and I like that they put more ingredients in their ramen than most other ramen restaurants without needing to pay extra. However, they have a note on the kiosks when you order that they are “currently out of soft boiled eggs” (my guess is due to the recent high egg prices). I also like their Pork Belly Rice a lot and the kids really like their Popcorn Chicken. They have really good drinks, rice bowls and snack items. You can place your order with their 2 kiosks or you can order with from a staff (most people just order from the kiosk). Once you order from the kiosk, you are given a number and the staff will call out your number when you order is ready, then just raise your hand and they will deliver it to you. Water is self serve through the water dispenser (paper cups available) next to the cash register. Ambiance is chill and they always have some to ing playing on the TV for you to watch (today it is Avatar “Animated”, but sometimes they have K-Pop music videos or some sort of movie). I will continue to come back for their Tonkatsu Ramen as so far I have not found another Ramen place that has as tasty of broth as the one at T-Kumi.

It’s the second time I go this week, the first time I ordered a popcorn chicken ramen, the chicken is small (which I think goes with the idea of popcorn) and very juicy. I also ordered a Rose milk tea that I really liked since it had pieces of rose, I asked for less sugar and they told me that the drinks there were not so sweet so I only choose 75% and I was surprised that it was not so sweet as other boba places that I have visited, which I really liked and I recommend if you are looking for something not so sweet like that. I ordered 2 toppings in my drink but I saw on the menu that they had many more toppings.

This time I ordered a katsu chicken rice bowl and I really loved that the chicken was not dry at all and the rice was sticky. I really liked that it comes with vegetables and sauce, it makes it much more delicious. I also ordered two tacos because I thought it wasn’t going to fill me up but I was wrong, I did eat the carne asada tacos, very tasty, but I couldn’t finish the rice bowl since it was very well served.

I really like the fact that they don’t give little food and so I can take some back home and eat it later. The service was very nice, they approached like 2 times to ask if I needed anything else. I had also been here before and now I noticed that the place was much cleaner and more organized, which gives me confidence. I will definitely return to this place and recommend them.

My husband and I came here at least once a month since 2018 for our favorite tonkotsu ramen with soft shell crabs. We came back today and food quality changed drastically. I think they changed the owner/the cook. Ramen was undercooked, tonkotsu soup tasted like the smell of old refrigerator. Soft shell crabs tempura was hard, not crispy. We didn’t finish half bowl of ramen and threw them away.

I think they changed the owner, and the ramen is much worse… It used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Davis since it first opened. It had good deals and ok ramen (good for the price). Last year the price increased and I rarely come. Today when I come and try it again, the menu is full of mexican food and the tonkuso soup is so bland but salty. Probably the worse ramen I ever had. The price is even more expensive with the ramen/tea combo gone, and I had the blandest milk tea ever… taste like water.

What happened to the POPCORN CHICKEN!!! And Flavor of Spicy Ramen??? Please change it back!!!! My son and I have been coming here for years. We come at least twice a month. Last time we came I was so disappointed with a change in quality of food☹️ I was thinking of ordering today, then I saw the reviews and that confirmed something has definitely changed/declined in the kitchen!!

I’ve been coming here for years and always enjoyed the ramen, drinks, and popcorn chicken. My most recent visit was the most expensive It’s been with a huge decline in food quality. The chicken was no longer delicious spiced real chicken but chicken nugget cubes. The ramen broth tasted like a concentrate or something. The egg in the ramen was just a boiled egg that had been overboiled. Not a jammy ramen eggs.

Pretty sad and disappointed. I will avoid this place going forward.

My friend and I ordered one bowl of ramen each and waited an hour for our food. There was maybe 5 people ahead of us that were there before us that still have not received their food. The cashier with pink hair was very rude and gave us faces when we asked for side cups for our condiments. The service was very very slow and the cashier was on her phone behind the counter doing nothing. Would not recommend coming here if you have things to do

Food was really good and quick to be served. The garlic waffle fries and the kimchi stir fry was delicious! Really appreciated how there’s always a movie being played in the background
