If you’ve been out all day or drunk as hell and are really really hungry it’s edible. Nachos got that weird cheap frozen “grilled” chicken, canned jalapenos, and fake cheese. Ballpark style. Pizza about as good as chuck e cheese pizza or something similar. Street corn was good tho, tore that up

Ron was absolutely amazing! He is the reason why we will be headed back there tomorrow. He recommended the fish and it was amazing.

Excellent view of the beach and ocean! It’s a nice little restaurant, right on the Pier. The food is decent. The service is subpar: the staff isn’t very friendly, and none of them seemed interested in clearing tables.

First and only time. Pizza was okay, burger was a premade frozen patty (not so much as salt on it) and the bywater nacho’s were mediocre at best (from the canned cheese, three different kinds of unseasoned meat and not so great chips). 4.6 out of 5 star reviews, how? Maybe we just ordered three wrong items. Disappointed.

Stopped in for drinks and the scenery. Nice place, the view was nice overlooking the ocean. It’s a good walk be prepared when going here. You have to pay to walk the pier. Neat place to stop in and have a drink. If it’s cool out make sure to have a long sleeve shirt, especially if the wind’s blowing.

This is the restaurant located at the Gulf State Park Fishing Pier. The seating is all open air with a roof overhead along with a nice view of the beach and Gulf. The best thing about this place would be the view. The food left a lot to be desired and they served me a VERY mediocre burger then to add insult to injury they only had the little irritating packets of mustard instead of an actual right proper squeeze bottle like civilized eating establishments should provide. Overall I would recommend the view but skip the food.

THE PIER … ITS OPEN! $3 to sight see $10 to fish. Tackle shop on premises. Pizza, Hot Dogs, Nachoes, Drinks and Ice available. Hangout at the Bywater beachside beach bar and grill.

What a wonderful find this was on our trip. Had no idea it was even there until we looked up open air restaurants on the beach. This is located on the fishing pier at Gulf Shores. Perfect beachside place for lunch and a beer, great rock and roll music and the most awesome view. I could have stayed there the whole day!

I feel a need to post this review due to the current reviews not representing the quality of the food at all. I hate to say it but this food is like gas station quality at restaurant prices. I’m not sure they have an actual kitchen but you can see a concession stand across from the restaurant. We ordered tuna dip, seafood nachos, a redneck cuban sandwich and a pina colada. Perhaps I’m not familiar with the tuna dips in Alabama but it really is just like tuna salad. It was canned tuna with Worcestershire sauce and mayo served with packaged crackers. I was expecting fresh tuna or fresh tuna chunks and this wasn’t it. The nachos tasted like the regular generic chips with generic nacho sauce topped with itty bitty shrimp, some crawfish tails, bland pulled pork and it did not taste great at all. The sandwich however was the best thing, but I wouldn’t ride home about it nor go here for it. My pina colada tasted just like a slush. On our way out I noticed the bar had a sign that stated 1.5 oz of alcohol will be in the drinks unless asked otherwise. So perhaps that was it, but I didn’t taste an ounce of rum in my pina colada at all. If you’re vacationing, looking for seafood. This ain’t it. This is like a quick junk food place to grab a bite or a beer after fishing on the Pier all day. The kids ate this fine but I left hungry. We spent $70 bucks here, this food wasn’t not worth that price tag.

I have been on the Gulf Coast my entire life and have never had shrimp as bad as the Bywater. They were like rubber. My guess is that the shrimp had been cooked days earlier and then reheated in the microwave. On top of the bad food, you will have to pay $10 for parking at the pier.
