Nice little authentic Japanese restaurant run by a Japanese family. The portion is a bit smaller (more traditional sushi) so you likely need to order a bit more.
Overall it’s decent although the selections have less variety. But you should still find many choices of sushi, nigiri and rolls.
The restaurant is on the smaller side and there is street parking available.

Amazing little community sushi restaurant! The service is very polite. The food isn’t “rice heavy”… Meaning you get lots of salmon, tuna, etc. Everything tastes great too! We will be coming back .

Sweet small little restaurant run by a duo. One chef in the back, one lady taking orders and I think also doing the cooked food. The raw fish here is excellent, I’d recommend ordering that over cooked rolls. Tried the negitoro roll , chopped scallop roll, dynamite roll, saba nigiri, and toro nigiri. The tempura in the dynamite roll tasted a little bit like stale oil, it was my least favourite and I wouldn’t recommend it. No complaints about the negitoro or chopped scallop, both were great and the negitoro actually used toro. Many restaurants just use normal tuna.
The toro in the nigiri was nice and fatty, I was able to glide my chopstick over it and a nice sheen was on the chopstick. The shimesaba was excellent though, nice soft and fatty texture. Flavour was great too. really nicely cured.
It’s a tiny restaurant though — seats about 11. You may have to wait around during peak times, especially considering the small size of the restaurant and how it’s run by a duo. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place for larger groups, at least not for dine in.

Polite and quick service. Convenient for takeout. Unfortunately, quality of the sushi rolls have been disappointing the last several times I’ve ordered takeout. The sushi rice is mushy, the rolls are very poorly assembled (either not closed up, or fall apart with chopsticks), barely there fillings and small portions. I really hope they improve their rice cooking and rolls. It’s lacking the quality, attention to detail, and craftsmanship we would expect from a Japanese owned sushi restaurant.

Quaint mom and pop sushi place. Food was delicious. Each roll we tried was great. Simple and tasty. Prices were very reasonable. Small dining area, and two outside tables. Service was like you are a guest visiting their home. A nice gem close to the river.

Been for a couple of lunches at Village Sushi Bar. It’s run by a Japanese couple. Friendly service and their tea is excellent.
– Shimesaba sashimi ($12.50 for 5) – our favourite thing here. Saba’s always fresh.
– Salmon sashimi ($12.50 for 5) – wild salmon had a good texture.
– Negitoro roll ($4.75) – favourite of the rolls.
– Umekyu roll ($4.00) – ume paste was okay.
– Inari ($2.00), tamago ($2.00), hotate ($3.75) and toro ($4.00) nigiri – excellent, fresh.
– Chopped scallop roll ($5.50) – one of the better quality chopped scallop rolls.
– Deluxe futomaki ($8.25) – liked the shiitake mushroom and BBQ eel.

I didn’t expect this quaint little sushi place to be amazing, but it exceeded my expectations, the quality is honestly quite delicious and I love that the rolls aren’t bombard by rice. I would definately come back here. The scallop with sauce rolls were absolutely delicious.

A sweet, cozy place near Steveston riverside, Richmond with a beautiful staff and amazing food. Sushi was as comforting as it can be. Offering both, indoor and outdoor dine in options this Sushi Bar might become one of my go to restaurants during my work. I would recommend all the landscapers working nearby to must visit this place for a light on pocket and comforting meal during their heavy working hours.

This Japanese restaurant is always the best in Richmond! No kidding here! It beats all other Japanese restaurants in the city. It is just far away from anywhere. I was happened in the neighbourhood doing stuff, so my boyfriend and I dropped by and had lunch here.
Man! Their sashimi was fresh. Sushi had the right amount of rice. Ramen tasted about right. Customer service was excellent. I really had no complaints about anything about this Japanese restaurant. If you happen to be in this neighbourhood or Steveston in Richmond, you need to drop by this restaurant and try their Japanese food.
There is always take out and customers dining in. The restaurant is always busy. I came here in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Their quality always remains well. I wish other Japanese restaurants in Great Vancouver would be like this one. 🙂
