Made to order fresh made pasta?! Hell yeah. Pretty view? Hell yeah. Friendly chefs too
I will say the gentleman who made my pasta was occasionally quickly using his gloved hand to push pasta onto the plate when it got stuck. This made me a *little* concerned because I have a red meat intolerance, and many people were ordering pasta with meatballs. I was worried he would get beef in my dish, but it ended up being fine so no worries.

I’ve eaten here a few times and food is of very high quality. Great salad bar and freshly made pizza.
The low reviews are ridiculous considering what cafeteria food used to be. I’ll admit it’s a bit pricey.

This dining hall does not accommodate well to allergies. I personally have celiac disease, and for the last two weeks I have had very limited options on what I can eat. Their gluten friendly wall has a measly selection, and the majority of the restaurants have limited options. I’m not as upset about the restaurants. I’m more annoyed with their gluten friendly area. They have not restocked the bread in nearly two weeks, so all that’s left to get from there are hotdog buns and Udi’s blueberry muffins. Those are not something I want to eat every day. I am paying $2800 to get my “meals” from this establishment, and they can’t provide basic food items. The first semester was great, but quality and service has rapidly gone downhill.

I’ve been there for breakfast twice and lunch once and see no reason to be back. At both breakfasts I had to remind myself that I was at a college dining hall and not a Hilton’s Continental Breakfast, which should tell you what spread to expect. And the only saving grace on my only lunch visit was when I got dessert. You’re better off shelling out the cash at the Market just a few minutes across campus at the UC.

The old Food Zoo was much better. It had options and food with color. I don’t recommend The Lodge. It’s uninspired, and I’m sad thinking about all the freshmen that don’t know what they’re missing. What happened to the rotating menu? These students are your responsibility; feed them better UM.

The lodge is running more smoothly than when it first opened, and it seems like it gets a little better every month. There are rotating dishes for every meal, but you need to be there at the right time to find it (before 7 for dinner). I personally like it, and I think people are overly negative.

So the University of Montana has closed down the Food Zoo and replaced it with “The Lodge Dining”. The price for lunch has resin by $2.00 over what the Food Zoo use to charge, however there is no longer a rotating main lunch item(s). The Food Zoo had a main lunch and dinner menu item that changed daily, often delicious, which added diversity on the menu / options. e.g. chicken curry, indian tacos, fajitas, pulled pork, stir fry, lasagna, beef roast, and many diverse good vegetable dishes.. The Lodge Dinning offers the same thing every day, pizza bar, burger bar, pasta bar and a wok bar, salad bar, and deli bar. All of which were already offered at the Food Zoo but now absent the main lunch or dinner items. I don’t imagine the students will continue to eat at The Lodge for long with the current and limited offerings without the monthly rotating main lunch. I will not be going back… Looks like UofM campus students and faculty will have to seek out options off campus…

Total waste of money. I cant believe im forced to spend so much money on a meal plan for this place. They serve nearly the same things every day, are semi-consistently out of multiple things, and the food places that actually are open arent open for long periods of time. Pizza is nearly always burnt. Staff is somewhat kind, depending on who you talk to. Theres just so little options… and not as accommodating as they claim to be.

5 OUT OF 5! This place has it all: they grow their own microgreens, tons of vegan/vegetarian options/gluten free items, different kinds of cuisine, it’s all pretty exciting. Lots of great seating, different kinds of beverages and even a dessert station that is spectacular. I love their taco bar, Raman bar, burger station, salad bar, and the make your own panini station. Great atmosphere! Way to go UM! Great customer service as well!
