We ordered the Kuai Tiao Khua Gai with shrimp and the Kee Mao (drunken noodles) with chicken.

Both dishes were excellent—the drunken noodles had a nice spicy kick, while the Khua Gai was perfectly medium spicy. Really enjoyed the food and had a great evening overall.

One of my fave, tucked away places in the valley. The family that runs the place is so nice, and you can tell they really care about their food and guest experience. The prices are good, portions are great, and what I really love about this place is – it’s quiet in there. It’s one of those rare places if you want to get away from the tourist crowds and just have a comfy, cozy dinner where you can hear people at your table and the vibes are calm. They have good sound deadening, what a concept from yesteryear!

My partner loves their pad thai, and I’ve ordered up and down their curry menu, larb salad dumplings, and most recently their Khao Soi soup was absolutely delicious, I cannot wait to come back and get it again.

The location is inside this sort of old indoor shopping mall, but it’s quick to get to the restaurant from the parking lot.

This is an absolutely amazing place. The food is very nicely prepared and so tasty.

The restaurant is well decorated and plenty parking.

We will sure revisit this place next time in town.

Yes, you should come here for spicy food. I ordered the green curry Thai hot and was also provided some extra chilies to add to my desired level. I did add some more red pepper flakes but it was good and spicy even before I added the spice. I didn’t add every chile they provided because I didn’t want to get too sweaty. It was delicious. It had perfectly tender shrimp and I also ordered the riceberry rice. I really enjoyed the rice. I was told that it is a variety that was developed in Thailand and is used often there. My wife had her garlic vegetable dish and also chose to add some spice to it separately and it was fantastic for her. I really think this restaurant can suit any spice level desire you have and also provide delicious flavors. The service was friendly and very quick and attentive. We encourage you to visit often.

I’m visiting and this place was on my way so stopped after looking at the reviews. The service was great. The good was good and it was a nice quiet environment. I ordered a coconut milk with coconut meat and was disappointed that it had sugar added. Had I known that I would not have ordered it. My pad se ew had great flavor and was a large portion.

We were visiting from out of town and wanted to have a quick not fancy dinner. Well this was quick. We were in and out in 40 minutes last night but mainly because the food was reheated. The servers were all really nice and I hate to give a bad review but you cannot serve badly reheated food (the same dish had parts that were steaming hot and others that were lukewarm) at a restaurant on a weekend. All of us had upset stomachs and cramping this morning. The food was ok and what you’d get at most average Thai places. The restaurant was also drab and almost empty which should’ve been a clue.

Uncle Chai is hands-down the best spot in the valley for Pad Thai, bar none. After sampling nearly every Thai restaurant in the immediate area, I can confidently say this is the place. Their curry dishes are equally outstanding… fragrant, rich, and expertly balanced.

While many restaurants in the greater Palm Spring area get the limelight, this unassuming gem deserves just as much recognition. From the moment you walk in, or pull up for take-out, you’ll sense that the team here knows Thai cuisine and is dedicated to doing it right. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors genuine, and the portions generous.

Whether you’re ordering the signature Pad Thai or opting for a bold curry, Uncle Chai delivers a high-caliber Thai experience that simply stands out. If you’re in the valley and craving authentic Thai done well, this is THE SPOT.

Highly recommended.

This was a strange experience! I love Thai food and was so excited to learn that there was a Thai place close to home. It’s in a terrible location with little signage and I have driven past it for years without knowing it even existed. I had the first clue that this was not going to go well when there were no fresh spring rolls on the menu. I have been to hundreds of Thai restaurants up and down the west coast and every single one has fresh spring rolls on the menu. We ordered some pork skewers instead as an appetizer. They were nicely flavored but the meat was full of gristle and I actually spit out a mouthful into my napkin. The Tom Kha Gai was so hot with spice that it was inedible. We asked for “medium” but it was off the charts hot!! The Pad Thai was the strangest I have ever been served. The entire dish was the same color. The meat, the sauce, the peanuts, the onions were all pale white. It didn’t look appetizing nor did it taste good! It had a sweet quality as if sugar had been added to the sauce. It was just all wrong! The service was fine and the restaurant itself is drab but fine. Unfortunately, my elation at finding a Thai place close to home was deflated and we will not be back.

Heard about this place from a friend and when I had a taste for Pad Thai, I remembered to try it after Googling Pad Thai near me. Glad I ordered Take Out from Uncle Chai! As a vegetarian, I ordered Tofu. Excellent! Some of the best I’ve ever had. Definitely will come back here again. Located in the Rancho Mirage Design Center, nice ambiance and staff. Note: Be patient as they are experiencing staffing shortages like all of the restaurants in the desert.

My wife and I have spent a good bit of time in Thailand and honestly this is one of the best, most authentic Thai restaurants we have eaten at in the U.S. They have a great diverse menu with many items you won’t find at a standard Thai restaurant. Highly recommend the papaya salad and the beef noodle soup!
