The food here is outstanding! The Tom Yum Ramen had a rich, flavorful broth, and the Coconut Ice Cream was a standout dessert—super creamy and delicious. However, I wanted to let the management know that sitting near the entrance during the snowstorm was quite uncomfortable. Every time the door opened, an icy draft came in, making it very cold at the table. Aside from the seating temperature, everything was perfect!

The place has a cozy, fun vibe, it honestly feels like stepping into your cousin’s room in the 2000s who’s obsessed with anime and cats (in a good nostalgic way ). The service was friendly; one person was handling all the tables and did a good job.
We tried a few dishes. The Pad Thai unfortunately wasn’t my favorite, it was a bit too salty, and the noodles were clumped together. The toppings seemed scattered on top instead of mixed in, which made the texture uneven. On the bright side, the shrimp were cooked perfectly and had great flavor.
The spring rolls were okay, fresh but not particularly memorable. My boyfriend had the crispy chicken rice bowl, and that one was delicious, the chicken was well cooked and crunchy, and the whole dish was nicely balanced.
Overall, I think this spot is definitely better for ramen lovers. I’d come back to try that next time instead of the Thai dishes.

Otosan is a cozy, hidden gem tucked away on Elm Street in McLean. The owners are warm and welcoming, the interior is clever and unique, and the food is consistently outstanding.
It is always a treat to visit. Each time we’ve been, the owners have stopped by to recommend different dishes and tell us how they are made. The service is attentive and reliably friendly, but it is the food that stands out above all else. The noodle soups have a depth and balance of rich and savory flavors. We particularly enjoy the boat noodle and tomyum noodle soups. The chicken kara-age don and gyoza are favorites. And the mango sticky rice is a perfect end to a meal. These are family recipes, and you can tell that everyone at Otosan pays attention to the little details. The hard-working owners go out of their way to welcome you and make you feel at home.
Otosan recently helped us out by catering a dinner for us. It was a last-minute request, but they were incredibly accommodating and went out of their way to provide everything we needed for a successful evening. Thai spring rolls, tum thai (papaya salad), pad healthy ruammit, and the highlight — a slightly spicy, perfectly balanced green seafood curry — were all fantastic. The guests loved the food.
If you are in search of authentic, high quality thai and japanese food — and particularly if you enjoy ramen — we cannot recommend it enough. We are grateful to have come to know our friends at Otosan.

Best ramen in Nova & likely most of DC! This is coming from someone who craves ramen even when it’s 100 outside. This place is so good that I went back the next day for takeout. We got both the spicy miso & black garlic tonkatsu & agreed that the tonkatsu was our favorite. The broth is so flavorful & love the texture of the wavy noodles. The ramen portions are huge! Excellent value. Love the chili oil on the tables. I could drink it & put in three heaping spoonfuls but beware as it definitely gets spicy with the more chili oil you use. The spicy miso was also good. The kara-age & pork buns were also really yummy. Huge plus that they have alcohol!
Takeout was also amazing! Everything else is separated from the broth & the ramen portion is equally as big as if you were dining in.

This small place packs a ton of fun, flavor, and hospitality. My entire family loves this restaurant and we have a great time taking in all of the sites and tastes. The Ramen is out of this world and my kids get a kick out of the kids menu. This place is great and does not have a ton of seats, but it’s worth the trip and any brief wait! The staff take care of you like you are in their house. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the bathroom! You’ll know what we’re talking about.

Was confused because based on the name and reviews I originally thought this was a ramen restaurant. It seemed like more of a thai restaurant with ramen as an option. The ramen was just okay, egg was not soy marinated and slightly over boiled. Tonkotsu broth was a bit salty and didn’t seem to have enough collagen. Thai food was good.

Such a cute hidden gem in McLean. The ramen was delicious and the presentation was spectacular. Don’t get me started on the service…it was amazing. The man with the glasses was incredibly nice and attentive. I went twice in one week and was impressed both times. Can’t wait to try their Thai ramen inspired dishes next time!

This restaurant may be small and a bit cramped, especially during dinner time, and it has limited parking, but it makes up for its outstanding food and exceptional service. It’s definitely worth a visit.
We were thoroughly impressed with our meal. The Geso Squid Tempura was perfectly crispy, with a light seasoning that hit all the right notes. The Chasu Pork Bun was phenomenal, tasting almost reminiscent of a real pork bun, setting it apart from similar places. The Spicy Miso Ramen had an enjoyable heat and a rich broth, making it perfect for a chilly day. The Kare Raisu not only looked fantastic but also delivered on taste. Prices were very reasonable, portion sizes were just right, and the quality of each dish surpassed our expectations.
