I tried the fig and plum old fashion. It was very good. I would definitely recommend it. I can’t wait to try other old fashion on their menu. Also tried the Roxy’s Summer. This was also very good!
As a table, we started with the swanky shrimp, wagyu sliders, and honey brie. They were all very good. Our favorite was the swanky shrimp.
For the main dish, most of us got the ribeye. I ordered mine medium rare, and it came out perfect! I tried the Cajun rub and butter. It was a very good complement to the steak.
As a table, we shared a few sides. The drunken mushrooms were my favorite! The green beans were also very good. We also shared the mashed potatoes. They were okay. The last side we ordered was the maple bourbon sweet potato. This was surprisingly very good! I do not usually like extra toppings on my sweet potatoes, but this was done very well.
For dessert, we enjoyed a cup of coffee with creme brulee and carrot cake. Both were very good!
We received very good service throughout our dining experience.
I can’t wait to come back!
While we waited for our meals, we shared the garlic butter shoe string fries. I had the 22oz porterhouse medium rare with a loaded baked potato, my wife had yhe 14oz ribeye with mashed potatoes and gravy. In addition to the great food I had the best Mexican Mule I have ever drank.
Thank you FINN’S for making our anniversary that much better.
I ordered Carolina Gold Jambalaya with a half size Caesar Salad. We ordered Swanky Shrimp as our appetizer. My husband ordered NY Strip 14oz steak with red wine, and Bourbon-Candied Root Vegetables. My Jambalaya was amazing and the flavor just goes well together into your mouth. My husband’s steak was so delicious! He said he couldn’t remember when he had a steak this good and so flavorful. Can’t forget to mention their Swanky Shrimp! Their shrimps were fried and the flavor makes your mouth water. I would definitely get that appetizer again when we return on our next anniversary or our next trip. Caesar Salad was delicious as well. All around deliciousness!
Our waitresses, Abby (trainer) and Ashley (trainee) were terrific and attentive! They’re very friendly, kind, and it was a pleasure to talk to them. They asked us how the weather was like when we got married and we talked a little bit about that. Thank you for your great service, ladies! The atmosphere is beautiful and romantic. The decor was unique, I think. I really liked their ceiling design (see picture).
I would definitely recommend couples giving this restaurant a try to celebrate their spouse’s birthday or their anniversary. Just keep in mind to spend some money. My experience with their foods has been great; I’m not disappointed at all! I would recommend making reservations first before going there. I don’t think you can make reservations for large groups. It was somewhat busy when we got there, but after 7:00pm/7:30pm; the restaurant started filling up. We’ll definitely return to this restaurant in two years!
I got the filet steak and it was delicious!!! I got the side Gorgonzola Bechamel sauce on my steak and it was amazing. It came on the side and I could not stop dipping stuff in it. My friend got the bacon jam butter and it was not worth getting. It was cold and we could taste a difference between that and normal butter and she paid $5 for it. The Brussels were good and plenty for 2 people. They seem to been all over the board on serving size. I got the wedge salad that was delicious but was half a head of lettuce cut in 2. I shared it with another person. But the gratin potatoes was a small serving, definitely not family style portion, and no flavor.
The service was decent. Honestly not up to par for what you paid. We got little attention. Had to ask for another set of silverware, missed a steak sauce, didn’t ask us until we were done with dinner how it was. Another staff member served our food and just gave us our food and left. I know there is hiring issues but that’s service I’d expect at a restaurant i pay $20 for dinner… not $60.
I’d go back. The food was good… their chocolate cake is still on my mind.
We went in on a quiet winter Wednesday night to celebrate making it halfway through the week. We chose Finn’s as it was one of few restaurants left in the Grand Haven/Spring Lake area that we haven’t been to yet.
If you’re in the area and want a perfectly prepared piece of red meat, look no further. This is the place to go. If budget isn’t an issue and you’re looking to impress someone, this is the place to go. If you need to blast your tastebuds with an umami bomb, this is the spot for you.
Steak Crostini for starters, and might have been the best single bite of the entire meal. Crispy bread, creamy aioli, crunchy onions and arugula for texture. It’s everything you need in one bite.
For steaks we got a NY Strip and a Ribeye, the cook was perfect, excellent grill flavor and super beefy. Exactly what you want in a steak. For sides we did potatoes, mushrooms and brussels. All the sides were good but the brussels were the winner overall, they were sweet and savory and the perfect pair to the giant steaks.
We were so full we had to skip dessert, but we will be back to try more of the menu. Abby took care of us and had the perfect balance of attention and letting us enjoy our meals. Finn’s has a great romantic atmosphere with its low lighting and tall private booths. You will surely enjoy your visit.
