I had the steak and cheese sandwich today which I think was pretty new. I wish they would make that every Thursday Like they do other days with certain sandwiches. I definitely will be getting a couple steak sandwiches next time they have them because I want my daughter to taste them and I’ll split one and a half for my grandkids but you have to try that. That is my favorite sandwich so far they were making a sort of Cuban sandwich at one time, but I have not seen that in a long time. That was also delicious so thank you Portmans for being so close to my house. Thank you to your staff who are also the nicest people in the world you have such nice ladies and gentlemen, there, and you have really good meets in your and your meat, counters and pies that you would die for in cookies that are wonderful today I bought cranberry And nut cookies. I haven’t tried me yet, but I’ll bet you they are just wonderful. I would add a photo, but I ate my sandwich already. It was packed with steak.

The sandwiches were the best, you could choose anything you wanted inside, and the peach pie was to die for. I ended up taking a full pie home which was still warm from the oven. The ladies working there were the kindest I’ve met throughout our whole road trip crossing the US towards Canada. I am so glad we stopped here for lunch rather than a fast food chain.

You must make time and for an appetite and go here for their Italian Grinder. Best I have ever eaten! Their macaroni salad is exceptionally good also!

Great sandwiches and cookies, probably other stuff too because they seem to care about quality. I’ve only been a couple times now but will make the short drive to visit more.

Portman’s is a great local gem. Ordered the smoked apple and cajun cow Portman’s sandwiches, which were both absolutely delicious. We were visiting from out of town, and glad we had the chance to stop by for lunch.

Thank god I found this place before I left to drive back for Michigan! That sandwich was absolutely amazing, the cookies were fantastic, but haven’t gotten to the cinnamon roll yet. They have an icing and a cream cheese frosting for the cinnamon rolls. If you are in the area, you don’t want to pass up this sandwich and bakery spot!

Came in on a Friday around noon. Love the atmosphere of the place and the food is delicious. This is the only place we buy lunch meat from. Always manage to snag a few delicious baked goods at the same time. The atmosphere of the place reminds me of the original general stores as a kid. Seems to be family ran and locally owned. Always love to see it.

Ahh, Portman’s Farm Market, the absolute King of comfort food in southern Allegheny County, a short drive from Pittsburgh, and easily accessible from Interstate 79 via the Bridgeville exit (exit 54), PA Route 50, and U.S. Route 19. Located on Washington Pike, just south of the intersection with Interstate 79, just north of the intersection with Boyce Road.
Only the freshest meats, sliced right in front of you, thanks to Boar’s Head Meats. The vegetables are always crisp and cold, like they just brought them in from the field. My favorite? The Italian Grinder. Packed with flavor, and more than even a big guy like me needs to eat in one sitting.
Oh, but wait, there’s more. Not just a sandwich shop and deli, they bake, too. Alot. Breads, (including your sandwich bun) as well as pies, cakes and cookies, are all baked fresh, daily. There’s also a small grocery, with fresh fruits and veggies, and locally made jams and jellies. Oh, and let’s not forget their homemade soups. Absolutely delicious.
This is the kind of place you want to spend your money. Locally, where you know it’s going to a family that has been serving their community for nearly a hundred years, and to their hard working and super friendly staff. You can tell that the folks who work here enjoy their work, and take pride in what they do.
Fair and honest prices. The freshest foods. And a great atmosphere. That’s Portman’s. You already know I’ll be back, been my favorite lunch stop for nearly 20 years.
Go check it out, you’ll be glad you did!

The food is great, the service seems pretty good if they know you. Very often the woman working the register will have drawn out conversations with people while there is a line of folks needing to get back to work. That’s understandable, today someone else came up and started working the the register she repeatedly took people she seemed to know out of the line behind me and check them out while I stood there waiting. I’ve been going there as a regular but we’ll have to find somewhere that I can check out in a reasonable time or at least the same amount of time as everyone else.
