Revisited this awesome little Mexican restaurant again after many years away. The interior has been updated. We really appreciate the padded booth seating. The old wooden benches needed to go. The new paint is clean and elegantly sophisticated for a small town. The bar looks amazing and would be a great place for friends to meet for happy hour or drinks.
Our service was fast! We had a simple mid afternoon lunch of Margaritas and Nacho Supreme! Omg the Margaritas were on point! Let’s go Tequila! The other reviews are not wrong! This is a great restaurant for Nicholasville and on our list of places we’ll return to! Thank you Agave!

Hands down the best kept secret in Nicholasville. So many great options besides your basic beef, chicken and cheese Mexican-American fare. Try the Tierra y Mar or the Carnitas or Barbacoa. Service is great, good prices and excellent food.

A local gem. The food and drinks are consistently good, and the atmosphere is fantastic! The courteous service is timely and attentive. Ideal for a date night or a casual gathering with friends. My favorite is the fajita vegetarian taco salad, and my spouse is a fan of the beef chimichanga. I highly recommend making this your go-to dining restaurant.

The worse service I have ever had at a restaurant. The waitress wouldn’t let me finish telling her my order, she just put what she assumed I wanted based off the little I had said. We waited the entire time we had our food, for drinks. The waitress went around the everyone else asking if they were okay, but not once came to ask us. When I asked to speak with a manager, she couldn’t even bother to sit and talk to me. Just said there wasn’t one here and didn’t know when one would be in. Worse service. And will never be back.

LISTEN, I moved to KY from Denver and have YET to find a good Mexican restaurant UNTIL I FOUND AGAVES! So.. I got off work and when I got home.. realized I had locked myself out of the . HA! So instead of freaking out I told myself a margaritas would solve this problem (GOTTA let logic go sometimes ) So I started driving around looking for a new mexican restaurant. I’ve tried so many, I was beginning to think Taco Bell was the spot! HAAAHA!!! When I walked in to Agaves, it was slow. Monday, 2 pm? It’s bound to be. So as soon as I sat down, hot chips and salsa were served immediately! The lady whipped up a BOMB margarita YUMMM and by time she came back I KNEW I WAS HAVING TACOS!!! YUMMM!!! Here I thought $12 was $4 a taco.. whatever I’m from Denver, tacos there are $7 each right? SO I NEARLY WENT INTO SHOCK when this HUGE plate comes out, plating was great! I wanted to dig in!!!! OHH. EMM. GEE!!!!! BRO!!!! I HAVE LEGIT FOUND MY NEW TACOS N MARGARITAS SPOT!!! For that gigantic plate, margaritas, $19!!!! Needless to say I WILL be back. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO EVERYONE!!! Modern feel, nice n clean (not to mention the cool bar) oh yeah. Locking myself out was the best move I’ve made in a while

This isn’t the first time I’ve had a disappointing experience at Agaves. On multiple visits, I’ve been ignored while waiting to be served. Most recently, I was standing in line when the employee went from helping someone else straight to the bar. I gave it a few minutes, thinking she was getting something ready, but she never came back.
To test it, I actually called the restaurant while still standing inside. She went to the back to answer the phone instead of acknowledging me at the counter. It honestly felt like I was being avoided, even though I was clearly waiting.
I did eventually go ahead and place my order by phone, because the food here really is good — but the customer service is consistently trash. The food alone can’t make up for the way customers are treated

The food is always great here. The fajitas and burritos are fantastic. The owners are always there to help serve. I eat there at least weekly! We also get takeout on certain nights, a great family owned restaurant!

The Street Tacos are the best. The hot sauce has the right amount of heat and lovely flavor.

I don’t ever leave reviews but when I do, it’s that bad. 2nd time here and made a pick up order and got the steak street tacos. Owner thought I was there as an ubereats driver, great. Got home and only got just the tortilla and steak without the cilantro and onion. And no salsa. Like who would eat a dry taco like this? Just sad. Not only that the steak was cold and I was there in less than 10 minutes. Will not be returning here and going back to my usual taco spot from now on.
