I had good expectations for Gateway of India, but the experience was a massive disappointment. For a restaurant at this price point, the food quality is inexcusable.
As an Indian and a vegetarian, I know what these dishes should taste like, and this wasn’t it. The Paneer Chilli was a disaster—completely soggy and looked like a Paneer Pakora masquerading as a Chilli dish. The Veg Biryani was equally frustrating; while the presentation was beautiful, it was all style and no substance. The flavor was completely missing, leaving it bland and uninspired.
The only saving grace was the Mango Lassi, which was good, but it comes at an unjustified price!
To top it off, when the check arrived, the bill was handed to me on a plain piece of paper rather than a standard, formal invoice. For a place charging premium prices, this lack of basic professionalism is unacceptable!
You are paying premium prices here for “look-alike” food that fails on basic taste and texture. If you value authenticity and fair pricing, look elsewhere!
We enjoyed delicious cocktails – the “Goa Sunrise” and “Mango Blast.” Watching the kitchen in action was a treat, especially seeing the chicken tandoori and butter chicken being prepared.
Our meal included crisp papadam with chutneys, tandoori chicken, samosas, and rich chicken curries with rice. Every dish was bursting with flavors and textures. Dipping naan into the chicken gravy was a personal favorite!
The chicken tandoori and samosas were outstanding, leaving us fully satisfied. The terrace is a fantastic spot to dine. If you’re in Saint Paul’s Bay, don’t miss out on this gem!
Thanks ♥️
The food is good, bursting with rich, flavorful spices that capture the essence of Indian cuisine.
The ambiance enhances the overall experience, making it a perfect spot for enjoying delicious Indian food in Malta. Highly recommende
Ordered som schicken and naan. I habe never Heard of an Indiana restaurant that was ou of naan in all forms. Big bummer.
The Rice is an extra order here, some thing that I am not used to from Europe, but must be local custom. Just be prepared for the extra order.
The food was not bad, but not my top Indian Restaurant I have been to. So a solid 3 Star review.
As a top should it be normal to give customers cutlery othet than a spoon and a napkin. Small Things.
Nice staff
Nice ambiance
Food portion less
Apart from that everything is great
