10/10!!! My mom and I were in the city to see a show at Kimmel Center and wanted to catch a happy hour before it. I looked online and Good Dog stood out, I’m so happy we chose this place. The ambiance and service is fantastic. Our server was Eric and he was the best! The music was super on point, such a vibe. We shared some apps – bang bang shrimp, chorizo empanadas, wings, and Mac & cheese – all of them were delicious. The shrimp was out of this world. I had a banh mi for my entree that also was top tier. We had liquid dessert, my mom an espresso martini and I had their Salted Caramel Martini… both chef’s kiss. I highly recommend Good Dog Bar.

We were in town for a show at the Academy of Music and wanted a fun place for dinner! We found Good Dog on Google Maps and made our way over! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the bartender. We sat at one of the booths, and enjoyed delicious food and beer! There was 90’s music coming from the juke box and the vibe was upbeat and happy. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a laid back, fun atmosphere, with good food!

*There is a parking garage a block up that was easy to access.

Good Dog Bar is my favorite bar in all of Center City! It’s three floors and each floor has its own vibe. I like the third floor with the pool table, darts, a tv and a few bar stools- lots of standing around and opportunities to talk to and meet people. They have a great citywide shot/beer special, using Yards Philly Standard. The food is excellent too. And of course, the photos of dogs all around are a great touch!

Hole in the wall kind of burger joint/ sports bar combo; food was good but not hot. Problem was the service. Waitress gave us the menu and disappeared for 40 minutes. Then food took almost an hour to come, and it wasn’t hot. I did enjoy the sports bar vibe and we got a seat by the window … so I was entertained while people watching!

Came here after a quick google search and i definitely don’t regret it. The drinks were string, food was delicious and the atmosphere and service were amazing. I had the shrimp tacos and a cranberry apple mule and me and my girls had some wings which were spicy but cooked to perfection with the best house made ranch I’ve had in a longtime. We will definitely be back

Hey not a bad dive bar in Philly. Went with a friend for early dinner. They have a good happy hour and also military is 20% off. So that’s always a plus. Food was hearty and had flavor. Staff was friendly as well. The prices are on the price side but it’s Philly everything is gonna run you $15 and above. If you ever need a bit to eat check it out.

I visited the bar with some friends this past weekend after a recommendation. The bar itself has a really eclectic and welcoming vibe and our server was excellent with no complaints at all. The food was also decent (I had the grilled chicken BLT).

Where my experience fell short was with the bartenders and the TouchTunes. One of my friends played a handful of songs which were mostly millennial alternative. Throughout our visit which lasted about an hour and a half to two hours the bartenders skipped at least ten songs. They weren’t all ours, but it was multiple skips. They were laughing about it with each other and even saying “sorry if that was yours” to people at the bar.

TouchTunes is not cheap and since the bar offers it guests should reasonably expect their paid selections to play. If the staff prefers to control the music themselves it might make more sense to use a house playlist instead of offering TouchTunes. Skipping multiple songs including some after only a single note (there is no way they could know what the song even was) came across as dismissive especially when the music choices were completely appropriate for the atmosphere.

It is not the end of the world but it did affect the overall experience. Unfortunately because of that I would not choose to return.

We ate at Good Dog Bar on a Friday night before a show at the kimmel center. We got the mozzarella sticks to start. They were warm and the cheese was good but we were severely disappointed that at $10, we only got 2! mozzarella sticks. A table next to us asked how many come in a serving and the waiter said “like 3”. I’ve noticed in other reviews the photos have 3 mozzarella sticks. Why we only got 2? not sure.

For drinks, I started off with a Sippin pretty, which is supposed to have gin, blueberry shrub, cucumber water, and lime. It was very sour and did not taste of blueberry. My partner thought it tasted like pickle juice (an image that ruined the drink for me hehe). I was not unconvinced this may have been the wrong drink delivered, but I decided to get the hot girl punch for my second drink, which was way better (9/10). My partner got the down east blackberry, which he enjoyed. He also got the stuntman raspberry sour which we also thought was very good. The draughts were overall more successful (surprisingly sweet) and had better options.

For our mains we got the short rib grilled cheese and the good dog burger. These were real highlights. The fries were crispy and delicious. There was plenty of short rib which was juicy and went perfectly with the buttered sourdough bread. The waitress recommended a medium cook on the good dog burger to melt the cheese on the inside of the patty. My partner thought the burger was very well cooked and had great flavor.

The bar has great ambience. We loved the pictures of dogs on the wall and the waitstaff was polite. We did not love the portion sizes on our app nor the construction sounds in the back, but we will definitely be returning for the mains (yum).

My wife and I love the Good Dog Bar. It’s a special place to us and every time we visit it hits the mark. The wait staff is always quick and make good recommendations and modifications for your meal. Beer is cold. Crowd is always good too. I personally will never stop ordering the short rib grilled cheese. It’s my favorite there. Keep up the great service
