We had our first lunch at this Chinese restaurant close to our hotel during the recent holiday in Hobart. We ordered and shared spring onion pancake, wonton soup and stir-fried Hokkien noodle with seafood. Those dishes were quite good and authentic Chinese staples and we like them. Prices on the menu are quite reasonable for the quality and ingredients presented.
Customer services are good, while ambience is reasonable for a small Chinese restaurant in North Hobart area. You can pay with all credit cards with no payment surcharge and while we dined on Boxing Day 2025, they did not charge any public holiday surcharge – example of very reasonable customer service.

This is my husband’s and my favorite spot whenever we’re craving Chinese food. We always come here, and it never disappoints. Our go-to dish is the whole fish in their savory, spicy, and absolutely delicious soup, but the Mao pork and the Three Shots Chicken are also our favourite mains.
The seating area isn’t very large since it’s not a big restaurant, but there are plenty of cozy booth spaces that feel private and comfortably fit a group of six.The décor is beautiful with an oriental touch, and the staff are amazing and incredibly friendly. The gentleman who looks after everyone—who we believe is the owner—always creates such a welcoming vibe and makes sure all guests are well taken care of.
We’ve brought family and friends here on several occasions, and they’ve all loved it too. I would 100% recommend this place if you’re looking for a cozy atmosphere and really great food.

Aimed as an up market Chinese restaurant, Mu Lan serves delicious dishes. We visited on a Wednesday evening, and it was crowded. We ordered the duck lettuce wrap, Honey king prawns, Chairman Mao chicken, Buddha delight and the three shots chicken. The dishes took a while to be served. Our table was a bit too small for all the dishes, sitting four of us. However the dishes were tasty.
