Reservations only! Omakase surpassed expectations… only took one pic because it was so fresh and exquisite it went straight down the hatch! Highly recommend!

Had a wonderful evening at Sushi Chitose with an old friend. We happened on it by accident, but it turned out to be a worthy discovery. The food was excellent and followed traditional Japanese cuisine. You won’t find fancy creations such as Dragon or Spider Rolls here, just well made, authentic sushi. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the staff were friendly, although the service was a bit slow due to only limited staff there that evening. We had the Toro, Salmon Skin, and Spicy Tuna, along with mushroom appetizer and soup. Prices are reasonable. Reservations are needed, and the place is small. I recommend!

*Reservations only* This hidden gem was found through looking at online reviews and lucked out in calling 3 days before for a birthday dinner reservation for a close friend.

Parking is limited but managed to get a spot closer to the liquor store next door. Arrived a bit early for the reservation but we were seated right away at the sushi counter.

Omakase sushi is the way to go, the sushi chef times the next offering perfectly while you enjoy the sushi. The fish is fresh and the rice quality/quantity is perfectly balanced. A lot of the sushi was already marinated in a shoyu base, so only a dab of wasabi was needed. Enjoyed the omakase and conversation so much that I only took one photo too.

As this was both of our first time here, overall i was impressed with the price, quality and service, and my friend was very happy that we could enjoy this omakase experience at such a relaxed pace on her special day.

Definitely returning to this place when I visit LA again…. 5 stars

Here for the omakase experience on a Sunday night. Very competitive price for what they are offering.

Service was quite attentive and I would definitely come back if I’m in Redondo Beach again any time.

Unassuming strip mall spot in the South Bay with delicious omakase. Came here for my sister’s birthday and called ahead to make a reservation (no online reservation system). There’s a small parking lot in the front. There’s a few tables and bar seating – the restaurant is pretty cozy. Credit cards are accepted. You have the option to order a La carte, but the omakase is well done and you get a good variety. They also do ask you whether you have any allergies so they can accommodate.

They do serve alcohol. The hot green tea was good and they do give free refills. My favorite pieces were the salmon and a roll with a fish from Japan (skipjack?). The salmon roe on rice was surprisingly delicious (I was a bit apprehensive at first). My family also really liked the fish with uni and the scallops. They give you a choice of miso soup with shrimp or a fried shrimp head for one of the pieces. At the end of the meal, they give you a small scoop of black sesame ice cream. There was only one waitress so things moved a bit slowly, but she did her best and was super nice.

Came here to celebrate our anniversary and had their omakase. Sushi Chitose is a gem! Very high quality fish that I’m still thinking about. My favorites were the Inari, salmon, and toro nigiri. I can probably eat the blue crab hand roll everyday.

NB: must make reservation in advance.

Pretty good Omakase. It cost $75, and each of us got 11 pieces of nigiri, a crab hand roll, a choice of miso soup or fried shrimp head, and a very small scoop of sesame ice cream. There is no longer a “premium” vs “non premium” option. Just one Omakase.

Loved the crab hand roll. Really liked the Japanese snapper and Toro. Shrimp was a bit cold and lacking in flavor. Didn’t have strong feelings about the rest. In general , the quality of the rice was very high. It almost melts in your mouth.

If I go back, I’d go a la carte. Omasake was a nice way to try a lot of different sushi, but tbh not sure it’s not “worth” it if you’re going with someone and are willing to share with each other.

Sitting at the bar was nice, would recommend.

We were looking for an affordable but quality LA omakase experience and Sushi Chitose far exceeded those expectations. It’s a fairly small space hidden away in a quiet residential neighborhood. There are basic and deluxe options for omakase priced at $45 and $60. We opted for deluxe as it was still a bargain relative to the standard LA fare.

The quantity was impressive, in total there were probably around 14-15 rounds with a couple consisting of multiple pieces. As someone with a large appetite, I was definitely satisfied by the end. The style was by and large pretty traditional without any crazy experimental curveballs. However, the level of technical execution was evident in the fresh, pure, and focused taste of each piece. A couple pleasant surprises included a monkfish foie gras starter and maybe the best uni/ikura pairing I’ve ever had (hard to beat that proximal Pacific freshness).

The service was also very good throughout the meal. All in all this was an incredible bargain, maybe among the best in the city. I’d highly recommend Sushi Chitose to any level of sushi lover.

Sushi Chitose was a wonderful way to spend a Friday night. A cosy restaurant with an amazing omakase.

A word to the wise; the parking lot is not the biggest and a reservation is suggested.
