Toasty Taiyaki is a trans owned taiyaki café and micro food truck located inside Common Ground Books (Tallahassee’s favorite bookstore for LGBT+, feminist, & banned focused books!). Taiyaki is a traditional street food in Japan, and we wanted to bring this symbol of good luck to our queer and trans community. Our taiyaki menu is gluten-free focused, with sweet or savory fillings with a variety of vegan/vegetarian/omnivore options available. Taiyaki is first come first serve, no online ordering is available. *Toasty Taiyaki stops serving taiyaki once they sell out of fillings for the day, closing hours will vary pending on demand. I absolutely love Toasty Taiyaki! They offer such a fun variety of flavors that there’s truly something for everyone. I’m a big fan of the sweet taiyaki options — I tried the s’mores taiyaki during an event at the Queer Market outside 926 Bar & Grill last year, and it was incredible. Even with the crowd, my order came out quickly and was perfectly fresh.
They’ve been operating a food truck for a while, and now they’ve opened a cozy café inside Common Ground Books! I’m so excited to visit again (and again!) and bring my friends along to enjoy it with me.
