Make sure to pick out a pastry before your meal! They’re so fresh and delicious. We had the chocolate croissant, soft and delicious ! I also recommend their table-side hot chocolate! I ordered the enchilada with red sauce. It was also wonderful with very fresh ingredients. The quality of our food and flavors were great!

el Cardenal restaurants are one of Mexico City’ss institutions. Arguably, they are most famous for their breakfasts and, this location, is the original of now many.
their very famous concha pastries and hot Mexican chocolate are what inspired my multiple visits here.

Delicious food and drinks! The service is excellent. Highly recommend. We had the chile relleno Oaxaqueño which was great. The bread was super good too. I forgot what the ant eggs are called but they were freaking incredible. Sounds gross but they were sooooo good! It’s the picture that looks like rice or couscous.

They have such good food! Their beef filet with goat cheese is amazing, and their shrimp tacos are spectacular. We had to wait a little.

The food was amazing here! My friends and I had breakfast here on our last day in Mexico City. Everything was delicious. The hot chocolate especially was so rich and flavorful while not being overly sweet. It was perfect.

Expect lines. We waited for a bit even it’s around 3pm on weekdays. Register at the counter before you wait outside the restaurant.
We probably didn’t order the signature dishes, so I think the food is just OK. The bread is nice, and the “green water” (shown in the pics) is refreshing.
Around 400 pesos for each person.

We had the octopus, beef tongue, sweet bread, Jamaica water and horchata. Everything was so good. It was on the pricy side but the location is great (a few mins walk from the cathedral) and the atmosphere is good too.
However, service was just okay. Our server added cream without letting us know that it’ll be an additional charge. The card machines started tip at 15%. It was just lunch and service was okay, so we wanted to change it to 10%. Our server acted like we don’t what we are doing and just pressed 15% and rushed us through the screens. It’s not a big deal but left a bad taste in our mouth.
