Aquarius Perspective
Last month while running loads through North Jersey, I randomly stumbled into what might be the best pizza experience of my life at Piscitelli Pizza & Pasta in Lyndhurst, Bergen County.

And I don’t say that lightly.

I’ve eaten pizza everywhere — Texas, NYC (Upper Manhattan & the Bronx years back), and all over the country since starting this trucking journey. We even have a so-called “NYC style” spot back home in San Antonio like Florio’s Pizza… but respectfully? Not even close to what you get in Jersey or New York. Still good when you’re hungry — but this? This was different.

Honestly, after this pie, I don’t even want to try pizza for a while because I’ll probably critique it too hard. When you’ve had the real deal upstate, your standards shift.

First Impressions

We walked in not knowing what to expect. Movies make you think Jersey folks might be rough around the edges — but that stereotype got crushed immediately.

The door was opened by a friendly Jersey native who greeted us like family. Warm, welcoming, genuine hospitality. Being from Texas, that meant something to me.

The guy behind the counter? Same energy. Once he found out we were from Texas, his face lit up. Smiles, courtesy, pride in his food — you could feel it instantly. The place was quaint, quiet, old-school… it felt like home.

The Order

I asked him straight up:
“What’s the most iconic or most ordered pizza?”

He ran through pepperoni, chicken parm, vodka sauce with fresh mozzarella & prosciutto… but we locked in the 18” Meat Lovers.

We also grabbed:
• Buffalo wings
• Cheese balls
• Two Mexican Cokes

Simple. Classic. No overthinking it.

The Pizza

Pepperoni, sausage, bacon, plus two other meats I completely forgot because I blacked out from how good it was.

This was not just pizza.
This was ball-park, home-run, out-of-this-world phenomenal.

Perfect crust. Balanced sauce. Cheese ratio dialed in. The meats weren’t greasy overload — just layered flavor. Every slice held its structure. No flop. No soggy middle. Just execution.

And here’s the part that really stood out:

It wasn’t greasy at all.

No oil pooling on top.
No orange napkin stains.
No floppy, dripping slice.

The Wings

I’m from Texas. We take wings seriously.

These might have topped some of our iconic wing spots back home.

Hot. Fresh. Crispy. Perfect buffalo coating — not drowning in sauce. Honestly tasted like they were marinated. Could not have been frozen product. They tasted handcrafted and cooked with intention.

The Cheese Balls

Different from what I expected — not your typical gooey mozzarella stick vibe.

These were crispy little balls of what tasted like American cheese blended with something sharper — maybe Grana Padano, Parmesan, or Pecorino Romano in the crust. More structured, slightly crumbly, flavorful. Not overly stretchy, but rich and savory.

Unique. Memorable.

Bigger Picture

What made this place special wasn’t just the food.

It’s understanding that when you review a restaurant, you’re experiencing the individuals who were hired and trained to care about the final product. Most people leaving reviews have never worked a kitchen line, banquet service, or fast food rush.

When I leave a review, it’s honest — and here, the staff as a whole clearly cared.

That’s what separates good from unforgettable.

Final Thoughts

Starting this trucking career has opened doors to experiences I would’ve never had otherwise. Some places hit, some miss — but this? This was a hit I won’t forget.

That small window of downtime waiting on a load nearby turned into one of the best food stops I’ve ever had.

Old school vibe. Jersey pride. Food made with love.

Late post because I got busy driving… but I couldn’t let this one go unsaid.

Piscitelli Pizza & Pasta — I’ll be back within a month if these loads line up right. I’m already craving another pie

Until next time, Jersey.

Cute and cozy pizzeria, with relaxing vibe. Service is always amazing and pizza is great too. Light, crispy crust with flavorful sauce and cheese. I know we all have our favorite and usual pizzeria spot, but this one is amazing too. Try the pizza, you will enjoy it.

Dry and a bit tough. I was disappointed with the quality of my slices when I had visited which was unfortunate since they look much better in some of the other reviews posted here. I’m not sure if it was because of the fact that it was late at night on a random weeknight, but I don’t think that’s any reason to serve something subpar; you can even tell by the picture. They reheated terribly as if there was no saving them leading me to believe they might’ve sat out for a while.
Very friendly service and chill atmosphere so I hope to give it a second try sometime.

Their homemade alfredo sauce is absolutely delicious. But, their chicken alfredo definitely needed some salt and pepper. The food is good, just pricey for what you’re getting. The workers there are very nice.

Tell you what, being from England, we didn’t have much of a clue what’s good or bad.

But popped into this place, got greeted with open arms, really helpful. While waiting for our order we were able to taste test some pizzas, absolutely unreal pizza really good!

Would eat here if I ever came back, wish I discovered this place earlier in my holiday.

I ordered their sausage, pepper, and onion calzone and it was the best calzone I have ever had. The crust was perfectly baked and the amount of cheeses and ingredients inside was so balanced that the mouthfeel of biting into it was heavenly. I ordered take out, but the atmosphere of the restaurant while I was waiting had a dimly lit, almost romantic feel. It would be perfect for a date night or a solo sit down to relax. I absolutely recommend this restaurant. The chef is a professional and the staff is friendly!
