READ THIS IF YOU TRULY UNDERSTAND FOOD

Sorry for the gaudy caps — but once you eat at Crudo’s, you’ll understand why I needed your attention.

Crudo’s tasting menu moves at such a high Epicurean velocity, I had to consciously focus to keep up. So much so, my wife — who has an extraordinary palate — had to explain what I was experiencing more than once. With that said, and despite my own gustatory shortcomings, the evening unfolded into a cacophonous culinary crescendo that, somewhere along the way, completely altered my worldview on food.

We had the full tasting menu with wine pairing. You must go and try it. I cannot justly describe it — but only offer this humble analogy in recompense:

Imagine walking into the Sistine Chapel and gazing upward at Michelangelo’s ceiling. You’ll stare for hours, but only to find it so overwhelming you can never fully process what you are seeing in one sitting. If you are like me, later, in quieter moments — when blinking, or closing your eyes — fragments of its brilliance will return to you in high definition. You’ll be left awestruck, humbled by beauty greater than you can grasp.

That’s what Crudo’s menu did to me. Not because it’s the greatest meal on Earth — I know other great menus exist — but because I am what the Roman’s would call a ‘pleb’ and for me it was the first time I truly understood what food and wine can do when they dance together at this level. It was a sensory awakening. One that will return to me in flashes of brilliance for some time to come!

For context: I’ve eaten at several Michelin-starred restaurants. But never — until Crudo’s — have I encountered something so far beyond my comprehension.

I won’t spoil the menu by clumsily attempting to describe it here. I’ll just say this: Paolo Crudo comes from a fishing family (apparently one with a Renaissance level taste), and will therefore travel every week to the Catania fishing market to have first pick of the freshest catch. The ingredients are chosen with obsessive care and put together with genuine artistry — to please both the seasoned artist and the hungry pleb who knows what it means to pay for quality.

This is your jump off point. The rest? You’ll have to experience it yourself.

It is sensational.

I ended up here after not loving a few of the other places, and I am so happy that it worked out that way. One the vibe was amazing then you add in the staff and owners, and it made it next level. Dish after, dish was amazing! I had plans for pictures but couldn’t stop eating. I can not recommend this place enough! Please go and give yourself time to enjoy the full experience. They go above and beyond and take so much pride in their food and drinks, and you can taste it. 10/10 and do yourself a favor and save room for dessert

We went to CRUDO Ristorante for my birthday dinner and it was incredible. The seafood was fresh and delicious. The most unusual dish that we tried was the focaccia with various types of seafood on it. Our waiter was very friendly and he told us a story about how this dish originated and came to their restaurant. I also had gnocchi, which in my opinion were the best I have ever tried. At the end, as a surprise I got a chocolate lava cake as a birthday desert which tasted amazing, as well as a limoncello and an espresso. The coffee was great too! Would definitely recommend this place for an occasion or a casual dinner!

Quality, quality, quality! We had the identità crudo2 and it was phenomenal. The service was fantastic and you can really tell they care about what they do. We also had the focaccia with seafood and it was something special. Great selection of wines as well. Simply one of the best seafood dinner we’ve ever had. Prices are also very reasonable when you consider the quality and the competition. With 50 euros per person you are full. If you go have lunch in any average place in the market area you spend 50 euros and eat 1/4 of what you get at Crudo. Fantastic place and incredible staff. Highly recommended!

I would go a thousand times over and the funny thing is this is way out of our comfort zone. A cool experience.
We had the tasting menu. For food, the flavors of this fresh sicilian fish was incredible, scampi were sweet, never had anything like it. The Salmon was a standout with poppyseed crust, literally melted in your mouth (this phrase is overused but I don’t know how else to say it).
Atmosphere is very comfortable but cool.
The service at the chef’s counter was STANDOUT. Paolo started us with a drink and was beyond nice. Elisabetta was sweet/cool. Got introduced to Claudia who is the woman in the apron doing it all.
For what it’s worth we are from SF and have pretty amazing fish and restaurant options, this makes me think they should open a Crudo SF…amazing…

Beautiful restaurant that’s a must visit! Service was incredible. Very knowledgeable waiters with a great friendly service. Food was amazing. We tried ceviche, prawns and trio of tartare. Portion sizes were perfect. There were other options available with cooked seafood we opted for raw only as a personal preference. Wine selection was also fantastic. We had a lovely sparkling and a white that accompanied the dishes perfectly. Definitely worth a visit, would highly recommend.

Fantastic seafood. Great quality. Service was warm and attentive. Varied wine list with great suggestions. Other guests were asking if they could make reservations to return in 2 nights as they loved it so much. I’d come back here anytime I’m in Syracusa!

We stumbled into CRUDO more or less accidentally and we’re totally blown away. It seemed to us as a place combining typical Sicilian crudo with other influences to get a perfect dining experience.
We were advised excellently by the owner and the knowledgeable staff and chose a tasting menu as for one person as well as some a la carte dishes. They were very accommodating as this is not very common. Each and every course, we were surprised by the flavors, textures and freshness.
On top of that, we were recommended some excellent orange wine from Sicily plus some dessert wine on the house.
All in all a Great experience and we would 100% recommend!
