Awesome vibes, but the food is slightly mixed.

Came on a Tuesday night, party of 2 with a 9 PM reservation. We were greeted, seated quickly, and loved the intimate and cozy interior. Our server was very kind in explaining the options and checking for dietary restrictions.

The food was, for the most part, good but quite salty.

– The Black Sea cornbread is worth all the hype: textures are superb, and the cornbread is so unique with a cheesy, savory filling with a beautiful sweet/salty balance.

– BBQ duck was also a standout. Comes on a long skewer and is super tender. The BBQ glaze is very balanced paired with the fruity sauce.

Everything else was quite salty and underwhelming. The latkes tasted reminiscent of a salty hashbrown, the scallops were cooked very nicely but lacked flavor. The halloumi was quite good but the combination of flavors wasn’t our favorite. And the dish that hands down needs the most improvement is the brussel sprouts—overwhelming salty and the toppings felt like burnt croutons.

Overall, wonderful environment and get the Black Sea cornbread. Wish we could’ve tried more dishes as I’m sure many of them are great, but the ones we did try need some extra care.

Superb friendly service and the cornbread is layered and intricate in flavor. Would recommend the Brussels sprouts and the BBQ ducks as well, packed with concentrated and rich flavors. The lamb Manti was on the salty side, but rest are great!

I truly believe all the praise Sarma receives is super well deserved. Our expectations were dangerously high going in and Sarma exceeded on all fronts! The food, drinks, and service were all exceptional!

Food: All the plates we ordered were all so unique and flavorful and it was such a treat exploring them. If only we had the stomachs and wallets to try everything on the menu. Our favorites were definitely the cornbread, the brussel sprouts, and the Cajun lamb kebabs. The first bite of every dish always got us perked up and excited to try more! Also the drinks we tried were a hit with everyone!

Service: This was a perfect service experience! The staff checked in frequently and effectively, always quick to deliver on requests. The plates came and went so smoothly allowing you to focus on the food and the people you’re with.

Atmosphere: The energy felt so celebratory! The decor and lightly immersed you in the dining experience giving you so many interesting and beautiful things to yet your eyes wonder on. Though there was constant chatter, we could easily hear everyone in our 5 person party because of the quieter background music and the spacing of the seating.

All dishes were flavorful and unique! Especially enjoyed the cornbread, harissa duck, lamb sliders, asian pear salad, and lentil nachos. Octopus was on the saltier side and less standout. Service is also very speedy, hope to visit again soon

I had high expectations given all the reviews and how hard it is to book this place. It was an underwhelming experience. We had gyro bread, chicken wings, another chicken thing they bring out as a side, Brussels sprouts, lamb sliders, honey hummus. Too salty for our taste at least – we don’t drink so I am not sure if we are supposed to eat these with booze? Or maybe we didn’t order the right food? Our server was almost dismissive when we asked for recommendations – she rattled off a few dishes and seemed in a hurry in general.

You hear so many great things about Sarma and think that the crowd and atmosphere would mean slow paced food. Boy, were we wrong! We ordered 6 plates when my wife and I went, thinking the same. The food was delivered on our tables in 10/15 minutes. We ate all we could, grabbed the extras in a to go box and we were out of the place in 45 minutes (we took the food home to eat it while watching a movie, lol).

Obviously the food was fantastic. Each dish was so delicious and enjoyable. The service was great, but, we got a weird vibe from the waiter. Unsure what it was! We went there for the food, and were not disappointed. So definitely going back this again!

This place is semi worth the hype. While some items like Crispy cod, Avacado dip, bean feta dip and corn bread are unique and very tasty on other hand things like Hummus and pasta were average. Giving five stars as there are lot of great things to enjoy on the menu. If your reservation is towards the end of the day then they may be out of certain items. It’s best to get an earlier reservation if possible.

We had the best date night at Sarma! We didn’t have a reservation. We showed up on a Thursday night. Because we were flexible on sitting at the bar v. a table, we waited about 10 minutes (faster than the estimated wait). We were able to order a drink right away. It was the first time dining out in a while where we thought the food was so creative, delicious and flavorful. We especially enjoyed the cornbread, scallops, and crab dishes. The drinks were equally delicious. The service was great at the bar. The waiter asked if we had visited before and then introduced us to the concept and his favorites based our dietary needs/preferences. They asked about allergies. We had great conversation and vibes throughout the dinner. The environment colorful and bustling. Parking is limited so plan in advance.

One of the best restaurants in Boston. The black sea cornbread is a must try, as well as the lentil nachos. We were able to find walk in seating for the bar seats at 9pm on a weekday, but usually you’d need to book 30 days in advance for the table seating.
