Came on a Tuesday night, party of 2 with a 9 PM reservation. We were greeted, seated quickly, and loved the intimate and cozy interior. Our server was very kind in explaining the options and checking for dietary restrictions.
The food was, for the most part, good but quite salty.
– The Black Sea cornbread is worth all the hype: textures are superb, and the cornbread is so unique with a cheesy, savory filling with a beautiful sweet/salty balance.
– BBQ duck was also a standout. Comes on a long skewer and is super tender. The BBQ glaze is very balanced paired with the fruity sauce.
Everything else was quite salty and underwhelming. The latkes tasted reminiscent of a salty hashbrown, the scallops were cooked very nicely but lacked flavor. The halloumi was quite good but the combination of flavors wasn’t our favorite. And the dish that hands down needs the most improvement is the brussel sprouts—overwhelming salty and the toppings felt like burnt croutons.
Overall, wonderful environment and get the Black Sea cornbread. Wish we could’ve tried more dishes as I’m sure many of them are great, but the ones we did try need some extra care.
Food: All the plates we ordered were all so unique and flavorful and it was such a treat exploring them. If only we had the stomachs and wallets to try everything on the menu. Our favorites were definitely the cornbread, the brussel sprouts, and the Cajun lamb kebabs. The first bite of every dish always got us perked up and excited to try more! Also the drinks we tried were a hit with everyone!
Service: This was a perfect service experience! The staff checked in frequently and effectively, always quick to deliver on requests. The plates came and went so smoothly allowing you to focus on the food and the people you’re with.
Atmosphere: The energy felt so celebratory! The decor and lightly immersed you in the dining experience giving you so many interesting and beautiful things to yet your eyes wonder on. Though there was constant chatter, we could easily hear everyone in our 5 person party because of the quieter background music and the spacing of the seating.
Obviously the food was fantastic. Each dish was so delicious and enjoyable. The service was great, but, we got a weird vibe from the waiter. Unsure what it was! We went there for the food, and were not disappointed. So definitely going back this again!
The employees are so friendly. Our waiter was Alexis tonight. He gave us a great experience.
