There’s a reason you can buy their salsa in a Santa Fe grocery store. This place rivals anything up there. The dining room is great…we all love the old school lounge. I don’t know what seasoning they use for their ground beef, but it’s the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. Oh…you get sopapillas included with everything. Margaritas are legit. Best place in Albuquerque…worth coming here.

So my mom had been out of town for 11 days with no New Mexican food of course… decided to go to Cervantes since it’s not far from the airport and used to be absolutely delicious. What a massive disappointment our visit was, with the exception of service from Kyle, who was amazing & adorable!!! We ordered the queso to start, came out cold and totally flavorless, sent it back. I had the combo plate that came with one ground beef taco, carne adovada, one cheese enchilada & one chile relleño, Christmas with extra onions and the side were while beans & papas. Ugh… the taco was dry, no flavor, not even served with salsa or anything. There was about a tablespoon of Carne Adovada, tender & juicy, but only a couple bites. The enchilada was flavorless, and a raw corn tortilla, cheese not melted, just blah. The relleño was super sad!!! ALL breading, no flavor AT ALL except the pull it was fried in. Hardly found the green chile inside the breading, and definitely couldn’t find any cheese inside that! Again, nooooo flavor even with Christmas. The beans were dark as heck (like old frijoles get), mushy & dry, again, NO flavor. The papa’s were actually hash browns which weren’t fully cooked, white as heck, no flavor AGAIN! Ohhhh, and ordered EXTRA onions, had like eight peices on the whole plate. The whole plate was just bland and dry all over unfortunately. Mom got the stacked beef enchiladas with green, all whole beans & extra onions with an over easy egg on top. She said it wasn’t horrible, but the egg was over hard, no run in the yolk at all & only a couple onions as well. Kyle seriously was the only good thing about the experience. Sign says “been serving since 1975” but boy have they changed, and NOT for the better by any means. Sad to write this review in all honesty, it’s been a long time, but I used to eat here at least 3-5 times a week when my dad was in a coma at Lovelace & I was a preggo, seriously, for six months!!! Hope you guys can find what you used to have with this place.

Pretty good New Mexican food. Hit or miss with the wait staff. Always great to come here during Christmas and Halloween as they have delightful decorations for the season, which keeps us coming back.

The place has a surreal, old world decor and ambience. The food was authentic New Mexican, very tasty. Green and red Chile, both delicious, red is a little spicier. The sopapillas were amazing. Staff and service was fast, attentive and friendly. Checked all our boxes. Will definitely visit again. Top choice in ABQ for new Mexican cuisine.

Family recommended that we try this next time we’re in Albuquerque. Other than being in a rough part of town, the food was good and the restaurant was clean. It’s on my go to list from now on when I’m in the area flavors are really good.

Passing through town, this place was recommended to me. I am really happy I came. The chile relleno’s were spot on and would recommend. As an added plus, the mariachi band was great and unexpected.

The good:
Super cool atmosphere/vibes. They go all out on the holiday decorations.
I ordered christmas huevos rancheros minus the meat and it was decent, the chile was tasty but they were very stingy with it. My tablemates were generally happy with their food.

The bad:
Worst margarita I’ve had in my life, like ever. And I ordered a top shelf cadillac margarita. Completely undrinkable. Had my three other tablemates taste it and they concurred.

The ugly:
Literally the slowest service ever. It took about 40 minutes to even place our dinner order. The waiter was nice enough but they are clearly understaffed and it took forever to get anything.

When I told the server my margarita was undrinkable he suggested a Silver Coin margarita. I said no thanks, I didn’t really trust the bartenders margarita making skills and asked for a drink menu. Instead, he brought me a silver coin margarita. I tried it but it was also bad and once again asked for a drink menu. He never brought one.

Great experience with food and service! Sherry my server was quick and got my order, she is a very hard worker who served us 14 people so it was very impressive to see. She deserves the raise. The owner Iris was exceptional she cared about the customers and also gave us safety tips on our trip and how to keep our car safe from any dangers. I highly recommend this restaurant and I look forward to coming back.

This was my first time here. This place did not disappoint! The red chile was delicious! I had the combo plate with a tamale, cheese enchilada, taco and carne adovada. Everything on my plate was fresh, hot and most of all…delicious!! The neighborhood is sketchy, but the food is worth the risk!! Will definitely be going back!!

Food was disgusting! I ordered the chicken Enchiladas and it had no flavor. Tasted like it came our of a can. Rice was mushy and tasted burnt. Waitress only checked on us once and added a $17 tip. I think tipping should have been up to the costumer. We got sat and waited 10 minutes before someone came and took our drink order. I will not be returning to this place.
