We stopped in for lunch on a cold Monday—31 degrees and only a few tables seated—but the quality of the experience far exceeded expectations.
The appetizers were outstanding. The crab cake and maque choux were flavorful and well-balanced, and the crawfish bread was rich without being heavy—perfect for lunch.
But the real surprise was the pork chop. Cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and impressive for a lunch service. It’s rare to find a dish executed that well midday.
Thoughtful cooking, solid service, and food that clearly reflects pride in the craft. This place deserves attention—don’t sleep on it, even for lunch.
Although a bit pricey, I would definitely come back.
Cheerful and lively restaurant. Nice, lengthy wrap around bar. Plenty of sidewalk views from this street corner location for people watching. Close to steamboat pier, busy Royal and Bourbon Streets.
I’ll be recommending Kingfish and thinking about it until we’re back!
We started with appetizers, the Crawfish Bread and the Fried Green Tomatoes. There was a delay in getting our starters, but after they arrived, we figured out why it took so long. The kitchen needed the extra time to overcook the crawfish It was like little pieces of rubber bands. The tomatoes were fine, the remoulade was ok. The shrimp was like leather, it was so over cooked. Very disappointed. Our entree’s were more of the same. The Seafood AuGratin was flavorful, but again, way overcooked. The Catfish Huey was again, flavorful, but the crab on top was again, over cooked. The Blackened Hook and Line was OK.
We passed on dessert.
We always try different places when we are in New Orleans and this one has been on our list for a while. I would like to think this was a just a one off, but as expensive as it was, it will be a while before we test that theory.
