Applebee’s – Redlands Blvd

When we first walked in, it wasn’t crowded, but the place felt like a medium‑sized maze.IN A GOOD WAY We were greeted somewhat friendly and offered a table — the kind built for giants. With my short legs (and one of my guests having the same struggle), we thought a booth would save us. I was wrong. My legs still dangled. Not their fault — I have legs, they’re just short. Anyway, I washed my hands and prepared myself for the night.

Drinks

Our drinks arrived first:

Watermelon Lime Rush — non‑alcoholic because the person drinking it is underage. You can get it with alcohol, but not today.

Shirley Temple — classic, bubbly, and honestly beautiful to look at.

️ Appetizers

The appetizers came right after the drinks. We ordered:

Pickle Fries

Wonton Tacos (two orders because we were hungry)

The crunch on those wonton tacos is EVERYTHING. The flavor hits you in the mouth like it’s reminding you why taste buds exist, Undeniably delicious.

The pickle fries — don’t be shocked. They’re not fries with pickle seasoning. It’s literally a pickle… fried. If you’re a pickle fan, you’ll love it. If you’re not, steer clear because you’re getting full pickle energy: the crunch, the sour, the heat (temperature, not spice). They come with a creamy, spicy ranch — maybe Thousand Island? Whatever it is, it’s fire.

Entrées

O‑M Cheese Burger (with Fries)

This one is new on the menu, and honestly, the whole show is the melted white cheese sitting underneath the burger on that sizzling plate. For me, it didn’t live up to the hype. It’s hot — cooked at the right temperature — but flavor‑wise, it tastes like a regular Applebee’s cheeseburger with extra cheese on the plate.

It didn’t have the flavor punch of the wonton tacos, the riblets, or the Whiskey Bacon Burger. If I had to grade it, it’s giving B+ to A‑. I probably wouldn’t order it again, and I wouldn’t call it a must‑have.

BUT — if you love cheese the way you breathe air, this might be your dish. It just wasn’t mine. I’m glad I tried it, I’m not disappointed, but it’s not something I’d come back for. Not like their pasta dishes, the Whiskey Burger, or even their Shirley Temple.

Riblets (with Fries & Coleslaw)

The sauce tastes like a mix between barbecue and A1, but without the harsh A1 punch. It’s sweet, savory, peppery, and seasoned to perfection. The meat is tender, but not so soft that it slides down your throat without effort. You still get to chew — just not much — because it melts between your teeth.

If you’re the type who likes to gnaw on the bone or gristle, you probably could. I chose not to. But the flavor? Very savory, very satisfying, very worth it.

Honestly, stop what you’re doing.Stop brushing your teeth.Stop sleeping.Get off the freeway.Go to Applebee’s and try these riblets.

Whiskey Bacon Burger (with Fries)

This burger is sweet and savory in the best way. The lettuce is cold and crisp, the tomato is fresh and juicy, and the bacon is actually crunchy — not chewy, not pretending, but crunchy. The patty is thick, tender, and cooked well‑done without drying out. The sauce is what makes this burger special; it ties everything together. The bun is lightly toasted on the inside and fluffy on the outside.

Out of all the burgers Applebee’s offers, this one is the star.

⭐ Final Thoughts

Applebee’s on Redlands Blvd gave us comfort, crunch, heat, and a few surprises. The service was warm, the food came out fast, and the flavors were mostly on point. The O‑M Cheese Burger wasn’t my favorite, but the Whiskey Bacon Burger and the riblets absolutely carried the night. And those wonton tacos? Still undefeated.

If you’re craving chain‑restaurant comfort with a little chaos and a lot of flavor, this Applebee’s will treat you right.

A little side note we did get the two for twenty five dollar dish full hearty plates very satisfying ALSO THERE IS TWO HAPPY HOURS 9PM TILL CLOSE AND THERE REGULAR DAY TIME ONE CHECK IT OUT LAST THING..

Lastly don’t forget to leave a tip, Its the thought not the amount

I love Applebee’s happy hour… but waiting 75 minutes for a table was ridiculous. The host was just avoiding eye contact with us and folding napkins. I finally had to ask do you guys want our business or not?
Yes. It was busy at the bar, but the tables around were empty. When we finally sat down our waitress was really snippy and forgot about us. When we put in our happy hour order I ordered everything we’d need because who knows when we’d see the waitress again…. when it came to paying we almost walked out because the stupid card thing on the table didn’t work and out waitress was MIA. This was a SATURDAY AT 9:30PM.
I’ll stick to the Rancho location going forward.

This used to be one of my go to places…but I will never go back. After 3 bad dining experiences last year I quit going here. I decided to give it one last chance in late November of last year. The restaurant and bathroom were dirty, service was ridiculously slow even though the place was mostly empty. We got the appetizer trio…won ton tacos, riblets and pretzel sticks. The riblets were cold, the won ton tacos were soggy, cold and tasted like rancid oil, the pretzel sticks were burnt and hard as a rock. The cold riblets were the only thing even edible. Sice we were obviously still hungry we thought at least the chips and queso would be a safe bet. Nope! The chips tasted like the same rancid oil the won ton tacos tasted like and the queso had the consistency of warm milk. Service was lacking as well. I took the time to fill out the questionnaire on the tablet on the table after I paid the bill. I was contacted by the manager and she sent me a $25 gift card to use to give them another chance. Last week my mom and I decided to try one last time in hopes things had improved. Sadly, it was no better. We had to wait 15 minutes to be seated when over 3/4 of the tables were empty. The hostess looked miserable and about as friendly and welcoming as a rock. My mom ordered the riblet platter. The riblets were tasty but were room temperature, the fries were cold and soggy and the coleslaw was missing. We asked our server for the coleslaw and she said it wasn’t included because my mom wanted fries as a side. We later checked the menu on the way out and the riblet platter does include one side AND coleslaw. I ordered the pretzels sticks again. Once again they were cold and hard as a rock and looked burnt. The beer cheese sauce was cold and had a film on top. I didn’t eat the pretzels and our server removed them from the bill. At this point I didn’t even want to try anything else so I left without eating. I did order a whiskey and coke and I actually got a whiskey and coke! I used the $25 gift card the manager sent me to pay for our “dinner”. On the way out I did ask to speak to the manager who sent me the gift card to relay our experience but unfortunately she wasn’t working. I will not be returning to Applebee’s again.

Horrible customer service on a Tuesday night… the whole night shift staff should be fired including their manager which sat down most of the time along with another employee talking with guest.. there was a young girl there working which was the host and when I tell you she was the best of them all. Literally the only one working, the manager was no help along with the other girl that worked because she sat her tail down all night and talked about how drunk her friends got in San Diego also had a nasty attitude when I asked how long was the wait to be seated of two… she’s lucky I didn’t snap on her… the food was rushed and was not good at all.. went around 10pm, never would go back again. I wouldn’t even send my dog to eat there, that’s how bad the service was.. goodnight
