I was in town with a sales rep that is from here. The only bad thing about this place is the parking. It has a small parking lot and during lunch you may need to park on the shoulder of the road or across the street at the empty gas station. That aside, the restaurant is amazing. It truly has the small town “hub” feel. Nice outdoor patio if you want to take in the day, nice, clean and traditional interior. It’s not out of the ordinary to see people walk in and be greeted by a couple of tables. They start you off with a cup of sopa (conchas with chicken)—-this right here is a meal by itself. The sopa is so delicious. I had the Sonny plate with two cheese enchiladas and two crispy tacos, with charro beans and rice. This was absolutely delicious. They make their own enchilada gravy which I prefer over anyone using chili con carne. The crispy tacos were nice and warm and had a slight oil taste to them which, to me, makes me think they make it fresh. They are light and crispy which is what I prefer. Not thick with a hard crunch. They were perfect. The beans were phenomenal. The rice had a good flavor, though a bit undercooked for me. I don’t know if that’s how they like their rice here or if it was just an oversight. I will say that I’ve met individuals down in the RGV that like their rice a bit undercooked and purposely cook it that way. Then came the desert choices, I had to go with the banana pudding. OMG!! It was served in scoops so it looks like ice cream but it’s banana pudding. It was fantastic. When you find a restaurant like this, it’s not just from scratch food that makes it good, it’s the atmosphere, the kinship that you take in while enjoying your food. It’s just a different feel.

We were working in the area and decided to stop by for lunch — best decision ever. The chicken tenders were hand-battered, perfectly seasoned, and incredibly moist. You can tell they’re made fresh, not frozen. Honestly, some of the best tenders I’ve had in a long time. Friendly service, quick turnaround, and great flavor all around. Definitely adding this spot to my list for the next time we’re in town.

Really pleasant place and the food is delicious and prices are on the low end. You receive way more for the money paid. We were immediately greeted with a smile. When server came to the table for drink orders she brought a homemade cup of chicken soup, delicious! Their soda fountain was down and completely okay with us as that stuff is poison! Husband had coffee and the special which was 1 beef enchilada and one chicken with rice and charro beans. I ordered the same meal with water. We also ordered tortillas chips with salsa. If the chips were not homemade they have an excellent supplier The enchiladas were amazing, the sauce amazing, the charro beans to die for. The facility is clean and cozy. The restrooms were clean. We enjoyed our visit and glad we stopped. They have a drive through and decent size parking lot.

Come in to eat with my family of 4. Everything seemed fine at first – placed an order for 4 meals. They forgot my wife’s meal. Not once, not twice, but 3 times! They had to be reminded 3 times about the meal. Other people came after us and they got their food before my wife got hers. We got exasperated and decided to ask for the food to go – and we had to remind them twice that it was to go. I understand it was a busy time… but to forget an entire order? After being reminded so many times! Would not return.
