A very popular Mexican dinner destination for the area. Food is authentic, service is out of the park, the whole family loved it! We have always enjoyed the warm family and friends atmosphere whenever we go to a Mexican dinning place. No surprise there. Ok my husband ordered a beer brewed locally. He said it’s fruity and tasty. My son ordered a special giant Mexican coke. They apparently enjoyed their drinks. I had to drive them both back. They were Happy, extra happy! The steak was seasoned perfectly, medium rare as promised, it’s juicy and scrumptious, and took three of us to finish, terrific! Everything else was awesome too. This is a great place to spend a relaxing and nonjudgmental place with family a friends. Enjoy!

Plata is one of my favorite spots for fresh, flavorful Mexican food with a gourmet twist. The dishes feel familiar but elevated with special ingredients I wouldn’t make at home.
I almost always order the Trio of Tacos so I can try different flavors. Tonight I had the crispy shrimp with mango salsa, the short rib, and the lettuce-wrap tinga taco with a crispy cheese tuille inside, all really good. Their cilantro rice and beans are great, too, and the watermelon aguas frescas was refreshing.
Service is consistently excellent friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. I also love the peaceful courtyard seating with greenery and a water feature. And as a bonus, TIFA Gelato! is right in the same center if you want something sweet afterward.
Highly recommend!

Not a great place for a quiet dinner but a great place for a fantastic meal. The restaurant is busy and so is the bar. The owners do a great job of training their staff to be kind, courteous and knowledgeable. It’s clean and well run. Parking can be difficult but worth the visit.

The food was great, vibe was amazing.
The staff were nice, but the food took for ever, be ready to wait about 45 minutes for your food to arrive.
Might not come back here just for this reason and this only if we are planning on dinner.
Having that said, if you are craving drinks, definitely your spot is here.

My favorite mexican restaurant. Their make your own bowl is my favorite, and I’m addicted to their chips and guacamole. They have a great selection of sauces. Their tacos are also a must!

People drive all crazy in that parking lot. The food was great, but pricey for my taste. Definitely a once in a while place to eat. The server was nice and checked in offen. I would definitely go back to celebrate a birthday or treat myself.

I’ve been to plata a couple times before and it’s always been really good! We all started with margaritas- I got one with muddled strawberries and mint. The flavor was very light and refreshing. I also got the short rib enchiladas that came with a red sauce and a side of cheesey cauliflower. The red sauce was actually a little spicier than anticipated but still really good. The green rice was a nice pairing with it. My aunt got the chicken enchiladas with green sauce which is always a classic. My brother got the burrito which was delicious and very big- he only ate half and took the rest home. I don’t know what it was called on the menu but my dad got some sort of steak which was smothered in cheese and other toppings served with rice and beans- very good!! Lastly my brothers fiance got the ceviche and chile relleno. She ate all the ceviche so I’m assuming it was delicious and is served with a tostada tortilla on the bottom. The chili relleno was good too. Very good portion sizes ! The service was good as well and the chips and salsa are delicious we couldn’t get enough!

Plata Cocina Mexicana is a true treasure! From the moment you step in, the vibrant ambiance and beautifully designed space set the tone for a great dining experience. The food is absolutely delicious – their mole chicken and enchiladas are must-tries, and the guacamole is so fresh and flavorful.
The margaritas are perfectly balanced and pair wonderfully with the variety of dishes. The service was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal.
Whether you’re there for a casual lunch or a celebratory dinner, Plata Cocina Mexicana does not disappoint. Highly recommend if you’re in the Agoura Hills or Thousand Oaks area and craving authentic Mexican cuisine with a modern twist!

The location is very pretty. Little water fountain outside the doors. 10/10 ambiance. I was so surprised at how affordable the food was for the area. Most dishes were around 20-30. Not bad per person. Sides were around 12-20. Highly recommend the Tablita. Piece of carne asada on top of a nopal with cheese on it. Delicious and filling. We also tried the cordero. Pretty close in flavor to birria but definitely preferred the Tablita.
