Discovered Udupi Palace today on Gerrard street and pleasantly surprised. Quiet place. Great service, good food and reasonable. Their sambar was tasty as were the dosas we ordered. Fun place. Make it your favourite Udupi joint. It is mine now

First time at their new location since the basement one. Dosa and other appetizers were fine but not sensational like what I remembered. The Masala Dosa’s potato stuffing lacked robust flavour and was rather unseasoned – not quite the finger licking and ‘pls don’t let the food end’ experience for me. That said, will definitely give other items another try to better gauge how they stack up.

Been here a few times. Love the food. Great Dosas, live the paperthin dosas. I think they got a little stingy with the Aloo…Add more Aloo man!

The shami Kebab (Soy based) was surprisingly good! It was soft, looked like actual shami kebabs…i was impressed. I tried the pineapple lassi last time…First place i heard selling a pineapple lassi.. It was beyond expectations, really liked it. This time had the Chickoo milkshake. It was good.

Will be coming back

Visited this place after 22 years! It’s now at a new location, having moved from the original spot. The food was still good — simple, homely, and comforting. Of course, with so many newer and more authentic options around, this restaurant has been pushed a bit away from the mainstream, but it still holds its charm.

Excellent and affordable food. I had the thali and it was great. Lots of variety, not too spicy. We were told it may take some time but we’d rather have it prepared fresh and get it later than have it warmed up for the sake of speed.

Nothing is worth other than dosa. Tried the vada pav and pav bhaji. They use burger breads for everything and even asks what’s wrong in using those. I guess putting potato stuffing in fulkas can also be called dosa by that logic.
So definitely won’t recommend of you are looking for pav bhaji and vada pav. Decent dosa.

I had a fantastic experience at Udupi Palace. We ordered the Ghee Roast Masala Dosa, and it was perfect. Unlike other restaurants that drown their paper dosa in so much ghee that it tastes deep-fried, this place uses the exact right amount. It enhanced the flavor without being greasy. The accompanying sides were excellent; the Sambar was my favorite, followed closely by the tomato and white chutneys.
The Pongal was also a highlight. I really appreciated that they used authentic South Indian rice rather than standard Basmati, which made a huge difference in texture. On top of the great food, the service was wonderful and the washrooms were clean. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend giving this place a try.

After not coming for several years, I was amazed that the service staff remembered me and my friend and our orders That we both used to place years ago . All kinds of details from our past orders like that we don’t need onions and garlic, and the allergies and everything. I was presently surprised at the care. .It’s the best vegetarian place in Toronto for the south Indian food and absolutely the most delicious for me. The best for me Chai highly recommend on the menu and new location, but a different location and before, it’s fresh. It’s different. It’s clean. They have more items on their menu. Highly recommend.

I had my first tiffin experience in Toronto with Udupi Palace after discovering them on Instagram, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Despite the well-known name, the meals are very reasonably priced.

Initially, I decided to try it out for a week before committing to a monthly plan. Deepak was extremely helpful and walked me through the meal components. He even offered to customize the portions, I opted to skip one item, and he increased the quantity of another to balance it out, which was very thoughtful.

As someone from North India, I was a bit hesitant at first, thinking the taste might be too South Indian for my palate. But to my surprise, the food has a balanced flavor that can appeal to all Indian tastes. The meals are fresh, hygienic, and wholesome perfect for someone living alone in Canada.

What really stands out is the customer service. Deepak checks in regularly for feedback and genuinely cares about customer satisfaction. Overall, a 10/10 experience — highly recommended.
