We went back for fried chicken, but ended up finding more wonderful options, among which the Beef Cheek and Beef Carpaccio being the best!
Service was great by host Chris and server TJ. We did not think it would be too busy so we skipped the reservation. Once we got there, we were told that all tables are reserved, the only option we had was the bar counter. With a 7 year old, it was not ideal but we did not have a choice. Shortly after we sat down, Chris came over with great news that one table became available. That made our night with a great start.
All four rotating taps were great. Then came the beef carpaccio, we have never had anything like that. The crispy shallot and shaved Parmesan paired perfectly together, complimenting the finely slice rare beef tender, topped by fresh arugula. The Beef Cheek was tender, juicy, and scrumptious! Fried chicken never failed to impress us. The kitchen staff also accommodated our special requests to leave chicken and ribs plain for our daughter, much appreciated.
We ended up with lots of leftovers, my daughter wanted to share them with a few homeless folks we saw earlier today. Good food is supposed to be shared.

Loved the food and drinks here so much that we came back the next day to try more of the menu. Their staff were all super friendly. TJ was really patient with us and gave us great tips on everything from whisky and food, to ski trails to hit up at whitewater. We had their beef cheeks, duck legs and brisket mac and cheese on the first night. Everything was made to perfection. FYI their smoker doesn’t open til 5pm and menu is a bit different earlier in the day. Definitely would recommend to anyone stopping through Nelson!

The burger was the best I’ve ever had — absolutely incredible! The service is outstanding and truly sets the benchmark for how hospitality should be. From the moment we arrived to when we left, everything was seamless and welcoming.

The atmosphere is beautiful and comfortable, with child-friendly seating and a dog-friendly patio. The drinks — both alcoholic and non-alcoholic — were creative and delicious. The bone marrow crème brûlée, brisket, and mac and cheese were all exceptional as well.

An all-around amazing dining experience — can’t recommend it highly enough!

The staff work together seamlessly — such a cohesive team that makes everything run so smoothly. Kat was our server, and she was wonderful!

Natasha was our server. She was so kind and attentive. TJ and Dan were so charming to talk to. Drinks made by Mackenzie were amazing. Our meal made by the kitchen and Gotham was perfectly balanced. No wonder the “Slam Dunk” was an award winner. Loved the environment. Hope to be back.

Update below
Very very tasty. But the beers on tap i sent one back due to flatness. Second one wasn’t any better. Sad to say it just was missing

Food is great tho.

No bottles of beer to cure your crisp fresh cravings. Just their tap beers. Just so happened the ones i tried crafts were not pouring as great as they should be.

Update
I appreciate the response for sure. Out of towner here. I liked the update on when lines are cleaned and the pride they have in their system and quality control. This one visit may have just slipped through the quality often delivered by a great place to eat. I will trust the bartender that he is pouring the best beers possible and accept beers as they come knowing there is pride to their system of craft brews.

The food was generally enjoyable, with some standout dishes. The Caesar salad was my least favorite, lacking the bold garlic and anchovy punch I prefer, though my kid loved it. The duck wings were flavorful but slightly dry. The chicken and waffles, however, were a hit, tasty and well executed. Overall, a solid experience with room for a bit more finesse on some dishes.

I’ve been meaning to leave this review for a while, but better late than never.

My wife and I eloped in Canada this August, and we chose Broken Hill as the place to celebrate. It was the perfect choice.

The staff were genuinely warm and attentive, and the food was faultless. What truly made the evening unforgettable was when other guests, complete strangers, bought us drinks to toast our special day.

Canadian hospitality at its finest. This British couple left feeling incredibly special, and Broken Hill will always be our first stop whenever we return to Nelson.

Well, I heard about Broken hill from the wife on a VB trip with the school. As soon as you walk in the aroma says oh ya baby. Service was fantastic, the atmosphere was great and the overall food was spectacular. I totally agree that a perfect burger should be done medium rare, not well done . My only issue is the slam dunk burger was neither medium rare nor well done, it was somewhere around well.( Sorry I am very fussy with burgers especially when they promote medium rare). Also it lacked plate appeal as the signature burger, it was a can of au jus and fries beside a plain burger. That is the only reason for not full on 5 stars.
