After a couple of days being on the road eating fast food, We wanted and hardy, home cooked meal. We found Willow Ranch, it is like we hit a jack pot of restaurants. I will definitely drive out – 3 hours just for the food (peach cobbler) . Its worth the drive! Willow ranch was cozy welcoming, clean restaurant.
Shout out to Steven our server, he told us the history of the restaurant.
We were driving I noticed a sign that just said “Keep” I was like Keep what?? I thought the bottom of the sign fell off. A couple of miles later there was another wooden sign that said ” Hunger Away ” and then it clicked!!! It said out ” Keep hunger away!!” A couple of miles another wooden sign that said ” Willow Ranch 12 miles away.
So we drove over to Willow Ranch. The restaurant feels like cozy country and very welcoming. Oh boy let me tell you the food was amazing!!!
I got the brisket dinner, bake potatoe, garden salad and cornbread. The brisket was cooked perfectly and the bbq sauce was just right. Not too sweet, it was very flavorful. The bake potato was just like grandma would make them, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, butter and chives. It was not dry it was delicious and I was happy it was after 4pm. ( they sever bake potatoes after 4pm) The salad was fresh and chrisp and the corn delicious not dry.
My husband got the ribeye steak dinner, mashed potatoes, dinner roll and dumpling soup. The steak was cooked to perfectly to his liking and very flavoring and I agree. The mashed potatoes were creamy, chunky and buttery. The soup was hot, creamy, thick and savory.
For dessert we got the homemade peach cobbler a la mode. It was moist, flavorful and not too sweet just right. To top it off the most creamy vanilla bean ice cream. It was just like how grandma made it when I was little.
We are definitely coming back here. Even
If we are not traveling up north. We will make the 2 hr drive from Orange County just to eat here.
My server was a sweetheart. Very nice and very attentive. She earned every penny of her tip and some.
The atmosphere was casual and calm. Very comforting.
Now back to the food.
The salad, which I forgot to photograph was great.
The Jalapeño Poppers were molten lava. If you get them, let them cool a few minutes. I blistered my lip with the cheese AFTER my server warned me.
Baked Potato, Beans and Dinner Roll were good.
The STEAK, oh my god, the STEAK.
One of the best tasting steaks I have ever had the pleasure of eating.
Not only was it cooked to perfection, the flavor was sublime.
I very highly recommend this place.
Stopped in here to eat some food on our way back home from our vacation and wow – SO HAPPY that we did. I’m so glad we didn’t choose fast food in the area instead. This Restaurant served awesome ‘sandwiches’!
Got the Brisket Sandwich & the Tri-Tip sandwich with BBQ on the side. I went for onion rings and he went for fries.
BOTH side options are perfect. The onion rings were beer battered style and the fries were almost battered fried (but I don’t think that’s actually a thing). The roll was soft & perfect. Excellent mouth chew and the taste of everything was just a stellar experience.
My BBQ Brisket Sandwich was so juicy and delicious! The bbq sauce pairs perfectly (I should have bought a bottle to go!). If you’re a Tri-Tip fan, then you will really enjoy what the chefs delivered to the table, that’s for sure.
Was so happy with this linner experience and encourage you to stop in and give the menu a shot. If I’d had room, I’d have ordered dessert! Very happy with our meals. YUM!!
I hope that you have as enjoyable meal as we did on our way home from vacation. 🙂 What a great experience. Thank you chefs and waitstaff- you made the stop more than worthwhile, you made it memorable 🙂
The kids meals had a good amount of fruit, which is good. Kids tri tip was terribly overdone, but the quantity was OK. My brisket sandwich was below average – I didn’t see any evidence of it being BBQ (read: smoke ring) other than the presence of BBQ sauce. The potato salad here had olives in it, which is unusual and kind of interesting.
Prices are on the higher end, but food definitely good
