Reviews
We also started with the bread, which was warm and beautifully textured, served with flavorful oil that elevated the whole starter.
What truly stood out, though, was the service. NORA was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel very well taken care of throughout the meal.
A great spot for a quality steak dinner — highly recommended.
Despite the restaurant being extremely busy, everything ran smoothly and on time. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. Our food arrived perfectly timed, and the quality of the starters and mains was far better than we expected.
The desserts seem likely to be pre-prepared, but to be fair, this really didn’t matter — the overall food quality and service easily made up for it.
What impressed us the most was the teamwork. Everyone we interacted with was professional, friendly, and fully engaged. Even in a very busy environment, they still found the time to check in with us and make sure everything was right.
A special thank you to Fletcher, who looked after us clearly passionate about his job and excellent at what he does.
Also, Hanna, who I believe is the manager, deserves real credit. The restaurant is incredibly well organised, from the kitchen to the floor, and it truly shows.
We travelled all the way from Harrogate, and it was absolutely worth it.
Thank you to the entire team a great example of how a restaurant should be run. We’ll definitely be back
For starters, we had the cheese & truffle croquettes and the minestrone soup. The croquettes were fine, but the soup was disappointingly bland and didn’t look particularly appetising.
The mains were, unfortunately, the most disappointing part of the meal. We ordered the salmon steak and a 300g ribeye. Both dishes arrived looking and tasting burnt. The salmon skin was completely blackened to the point of being inedible, and we had to remove it entirely. The ribeye was cooked medium inside as requested, but the exterior tasted burnt and some parts were literally black. It’s a shame, because the cut itself seemed like a good piece of meat that just wasn’t treated with the care it deserved.
Dessert was the saving grace. The hot cookie dough was genuinely enjoyable and great for sharing. The scoop of vanilla ice cream was a bit small, but overall the dessert was the highlight of the meal.
When the bill arrived, we noticed a 12.5% gratuity/tip added on top of the service charge by default, which didn’t sit well given the issues with the food. Service itself was decent, and the space looks nice, but the tables are set a little too close to one another.
Overall, we left disappointed, especially considering the reputation and price point.
I ordered the steak and it was unreal – cooked perfectly, so tender and full of flavour. My partner got the burger and loved every single bite. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing.
To top it all off, they surprised me with a free dessert for my birthday which was such a sweet touch and made the night even more special.
The atmosphere, the service, the food… everything was 10/10. If you’re thinking about going to Gaucho, do it. I’ll definitely be returning!
Table service was OK, but the food was really not great — especially at the price paid. We opted to pick from the á la carte menu. Scallops were very undercooked and tasteless, tuna tartare was also seriously lacking flavour despite there being accompanying sauce… it was all just very bland.
We ordered three of the red wine & steak pie’s as a main, however this was also fairly disappointing. A small amount of gravy accompanied an overcooked crust that one of my clients kept remarking would “chip [his] tooth” if he finished it.
Decided to leave disappointed rather than finish off with a dessert and wine pairing. No pleasantries on the way out and left feeling rather annoyed.
All in all, I definitely wouldn’t recommend Gusto and I can totally understand why the place was entirely empty; sorry!
It was very embarrassing to bring two clients here; they really didn’t enjoy themselves and, in my opinion, it would’ve been much better to have visited Lucky Cat instead for a higher quality meal at similar money.
P.S. A reminder that the chefs should show care and wipe the rim of the plates clean before serving to guests. This is a simple standard that, whilst petty to moan about, does get noticed and matter for upscale restaurants. Clients are partly paying for service quality; and there’s not much excuse when the place was empty. The pies were clearly just slapped onto plates with “skid marks” down the side. Mine wasn’t too bad in this regard, but my clients’ looked like a bomb had gone off on the plate. It’s a really minor gripe, but it does hint at a lack of care on dishes coming from the kitchen if they can’t be bothered with even basic presentation.
The Steak almost melted in your mouth it was that nice and succulent, there’s also a wide variety of sides to add to it as well.
Staff are friendly and also happy to help you choose the right Steak for you or can also recommend.
Brilliant atmosphere and will be visiting again and also very reasonably priced.
Everything on the plate was spot on too – crispy roast potatoes, rich gravy, huge Yorkshire puddings, and beautifully cooked veg. It felt like a proper indulgent Sunday dinner but elevated to restaurant quality.
The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed, and the staff were attentive without being overbearing, which made the whole experience feel special from start to finish.
If you’re looking for a top-tier Sunday roast in Manchester, Gaucho is 100% worth it. We’ll definitely be back.
The room set up was just amazing simply and classy!!
The food was really good, and the steak was absolutely amazing, cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth . The dessert was a bit too sweet for my taste, but overall, the meal was enjoyable. The drinks complemented the meal well, making it a great dining experience.
