Really nice looking place only carry out. The eggroll was exactly the same as the last space we stopped at somewhat mediocre with chewy, pork and undercooked but the menu looked really nice and the place is really cool that you can’t eat inside of.

Dear Mister Chen, You have a nice dining room. Don’t listen to the woman. Open up that dining room so I don’t have to eat like a homeless person in the park! 😉 Cantonese style food was good btw.

As a whitehall native I can confirm that quality and value has not changed in 30 years. Mr Chen is a valued member of our community and I can’t wait to visit over and over now that I’ve moved home. I wish the dining room was open but I understand the hit that they took after the pandemic as a small business

Very Good Food. I wish they or someone would open the inside dinning back up. Bummer not having a buffet in Whitehall. This is really what I would call
CASH AND CARRY. When the inside was open the place was spotless and very clean. It would not surprise me to drive by and see it closed with a “for sale” sign on the building. I just hope someone takes it over and still a Chinese Restaurant.

My boyfriend and I have went there a few times, but I sadly have not been super impressed with their buffet. Some of the food is really good, but most of it is cold and not fresh! It tasted like it had been sitting there for a while and not kept warm or rewarded. I also didn’t like that there were hardly any choices on foods to eat and a lot of the food containers at the buffet were empty and not refilled. There was only four crab meat rangoons for example and we both love rangoons. So we were VERY disappointed that there was only for left never any fresh ones while we were there and the four that we had were cold. I’d also like to mention that they inconveniently don’t take credit or debit cards every time we go there we have to go to the ATM machine at Weston first. I just hope that this restaurant starts to improve because when the food is fresh it’s a good place to go, but when it’s cold and no food like tonigh it’s not at all worth the money.

This is our favorite Chinese restaurant! We are vegetarian and they have always been so generous and will substitute crispy tofu for any meat in any dish just about. Love the small town feel, always quiet and peaceful to dine in. Don’t get me started on those giant delicious egg rolls! Chen’s never disappoints us!

It’s really good food but the service and the way they run this business is awful! The phone is always unplugged so you can’t order before you arrive! Then when you get there to order it’ll be 30 minutes because all the cooks need to eat at one time! I understand needing a break but they’re taking it all together so there’s no one to cook then they do it right at dinner when I’m sure they’re the busiest! And not to mention the cashier is always so rude!! I wish there was another place to have good Chinese in whitehall because this place is awful!

For American Chinese food, this was really good! Hot, well made, delicious. It’s far from authentic, but it’s 100x better than most Chinese restaurants in the USA. The garlic chicken needs far more garlic, the broccoli and beef was great. The vegetables all fresh and delicious.

Not impressed last time I order. I Rangoons were cardboard. Food was unpleasant overall. I really used to enjoy eating here. No dine in either. And no buffet. Place is going down HILL fast.
Sorry

For the Midwest their Asian food is quite good and very reasonably priced.

The best Asian food in the USA is found in the Pacific NW where there is a sizable Asian population. They even sell a full menu of Chinese, Thai and other Asian food at the grocery store delis. That food is comparable to Chen’s in quality but lower in price.

Chen’s does a very good job, I just wish they delivered.

For a Midwest Chinese restaurant they are quite good. 3.5 stars because I have had much better years ago at the House of Chan when it was on Western Ave. in downtown Muskegon. Then they were 5 stars plus. It didn’t get any better than when the Grandfather, Gin Chan, ran the original House of Chan restaurant. It was upstairs on the corner of Western and ? I miss when it was there. The food was plentiful and priced so anyone could afford it. Plus your meal came with free tea. Just some nostalgia for you.
