My croissant and latte were just as expected – fresh and tasty. The staff was extremely friendly and this is not a dish at them whatsoever, but to whoever runs this place… The service here is just not acceptable for the price of a cafe visit. I think I was more frustrated with the service because I read reviews noting the slowness prior to visiting and then I walk in, and there is a large group of people waiting for their order. Then, I sit by a couple who had to leave without their order because they couldn’t wait any longer. Doesn’t seem acceptable. Breakfast croissant was great though, don’t get me wrong 🙂

Drip coffee did not taste good at all. The person behind the counter was pretty short with me… not sure what’s up with that. However, the atmosphere is really nice and they have good options for seating! I’d be open to coming back and trying something else… just not the drip coffee. Perhaps I got the wrong item. I’ll update my review once I stop back for something different.

Our sandwiches were delicious. Perfect for a rainy day in April. I had the lox on a ciabatta – so much easier to eat than a bagel. The ciabatta was fresh and warm – not super chewy that you have to ‘fight with’ it. My hubby had the Caprese Sammy. He was very happy. These are generous sandwiches! The drip coffee was hot with a pleasant ‘bite’ to it. Our food was quickly prepared, too. Sadly, there were customers who weren’t considerate of this small business: a person doing work on her lap top and an 8-member group that were there when we arrived and were still there when we had finished eating. We especially liked the suggestions from the friendly staff. We will definitely go back!

Even compared to all the cafes in Birmingham — which need serious improvement IMO — Monarch is still the most adorable cafe in Oakland County. Their bagels are unreal (and quickly sell out so be early) with a perfect ratio of lox:cream cheese, whereas Jersey Bagel has too much lox on a too thick bagel. But try a breakfast croissant because they use a siracha mayo that is to DIE for. Extra points for a boba straw w my latte Note that for syrups, the standard is 3 pumps, so specify just 1 or 2 if you like less sweet. They also carry the best non alcoholic rose and varieties of Challah (sesame, plain, etc) from Dakota Bakery. Love love love

December 5th, 2025 was my first day stopping by. I spoke to the awesome manager, Jeremiah. Where I learned about his super delicious recipes and recommendations. From how he talked about their in house made Lavender syrup. All the way down to the pastries being recommended as well. They do have a selection where they bake everything in store and other items that are shipped. They were very attentive to me, when I notified them about my red dye allergy. They allowed me to read some items to see if Red-40 was included. As well as, the team offering to read the delivery information to see if their strawberries and cream pastry did include Red 40. Everyone was polite, welcoming, super chill and had great conversation. Their customer service was immaculate, and my Peach and Pina Colda Smoothie was just as tasteful. 10/10 must try again. The menu items were NOT disappointing, and neither was their display. They sold soft drinks, liquor seltzers, hard liquor and wine here. Even better, they sold drinking and party games! The atmosphere was a vibe. You could either pop in to read a book, study and do homework or even sit with the crew and chat. I will be dropping by again. Come on in and check out their goodies too. From the dog treats to the hoodies. Be blessed!

I only gave 1 star for the obvious reason. The two women working in the cafe on Tuesday February 24th were very rude and dismissive. When I entered the cafe, the young lady taking orders looked me directly in my face and did not speak. I had to greet her, it’s basic customer service. The barista crafted my drink, then placed it in the counter as she faced the first young lady in full on conversation. The only way to rate their service is RUDE. I would suggest a bit of customer service training. I try to support smaller businesses, but I would never return to this quaint coffee shop.

My cousin is a regular here and this was my first time here. This is a fantastic little shop. Their menu is extensive but filled with great things. They also operate as a snack and liquor shop with specialty items. The food I had was well made and the service is friendly. You can really see that the locals love this place and come here often. It’s a place that is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

What a cool looking place! A market, coffee shop, bfast/lunch, pastries and great staff! We had deliciously tasty coffee, Mediterranean wrap and my 19 month old granddaughter LOVED the banana strawberry smoothie. Best part was that my daughter paid! Right next door is a terrific playground where we ate, drank and played. Great place!

The owner of our med spa has one of the sweetest clients who spoils us with the most delicious treats from this cafe. The muffins, berry bars, protein balls etc are always pure perfection, so much so I had to look them up! Will definitely be visiting them in the near future!

If you live in the neighborhood across from Monarch Market Cafe, then this is the perfect within walking distance breakfast spot! We walked over from the neighborhood and found this to be a cute new place to dine at.
We did the breakfast sandwiches/wraps. They were well made and tasted great. I appreciated that their was a tasty Gluten Free option. The outside seating was nice and a great spot to eat.
Before leaving, we grab coffee and a few bakery items to take home. The GF Lemon Blueberry Cookie was amazing and I’ll be returning for more!
