The ambiance inside is great. They have a playlist playing, and the decor is stylish and inviting. You can also watch the games or TV on a projection screen.
The menu is good, with some chicken and waffle options, different entrées and alcoholic beverages. The food was delicious! The chicken breasts are juicy and well-seasoned, and the waffles are fluffy and crispy.
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. They’re coming up on 10 years in business, and they’ve been serving up delicious chicken and waffles for years.
Fats Chicken and Waffles in Seattle absolutely delivers. The moment you walk in, you’re wrapped in that early-2000s and classic ’90s hip-hop vibe — the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to sit back, relax, and soak it all in. The playlist alone could get five stars.
But the food? Next level.
Their fried chicken eggs Benedict is nothing short of legendary — perfectly crispy chicken, rich hollandaise, and fluffy biscuits that taste like someone’s Southern grandma whispered the recipe down from the heavens. And don’t even get me started on the Bloody Marys. Bold, spicy, balanced, and dangerously delicious.
Service is consistently warm, attentive, and on point. They take pride in what they do, and it shows in the way every dish arrives hot, every drink hits just right, and every customer feels welcomed.
Fats isn’t just serving food — they’re upholding Black excellence with every plate, every beat, and every smile. If you want incredible food delivered with heart and culture, this is the place.
10/10 — would brunch again and again.
The place was very welcoming with nice Afrobeats, Amapiano, and R&B style music playing. It was very clean and smelled nice. The owners, Erika and Erika were incredible. The two joked with me about how I was in my own world just eating & dancing while awaiting my food, I told them how I just moved to the area from California and Erika told me about some great events to meet new people and have fun. She even went as far as sharing Instagram pages for local DJs and event promoters so I’d know good spots to hand out.
Overall I had a 10/10 experience, I’ll definitely be back!
Atmosphere: good ambiance on a busy Sunday
Service: friendly service with great staff.
Constructive Criticism: our wait time was very long to get a seat. We knew this was not the restaurant’s fault necessarily, BUT we discovered that a table next to us, who had finished their food way earlier than when we were sat, simply sat at their table chatting for the next 45 min to hour while we waited for our food, with no urgency to leave when there was a clearly long wait for other ppl to get in and be seated. We noticed one of the staff only asked them to leave so the table could be turned over at around 5 min before we ourselves left. They hadn’t even paid yet. I think at that point, I do think the staff should try and be a bit more pushy about enforcing a timely exit after finishing eating, especially given how busy it was (Sunday brunch time) and how many ppl clearly wanted to be seated. I honestly don’t think our wait time would have been nearly as long if ppl were pushed out earlier than they were.
All that being said, the food is absolutely worth it, so still recommend coming here, just be prepared to wait, both for seating and food preparation.
I would definitely go back for the catfish and biscuits and try more stuff on the menu. Great southern diner ambience. The service was a bit spotty because only one guy was really hustling. The ladies were chatting VERY loudly to each other most of the time so we had to flag them down to order and get served. They were a bit hot and cold.
