Otro Cafe it’s was decorated nice but I’m very disappointed the service

I value my time, especially on my day off when I choose to support a local restaurant and try something new. Unfortunately, my experience at Otro Cafe was extremely disappointing, not because of the food, but because of how customers are treated.

We checked in at 12:23 PM and were quoted a 30 minute wait. We were given a buzzer and waited in our car directly in front of the restaurant. After 50 minutes with no notification, I went inside around 1:15 PM to check. I was told it was “not our turn yet.”

After confirming we had already been waiting close to an hour, we noticed our name had already been crossed off the waiting list. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, the staff told us to “just wait” and that we would be next. We patiently waited another 20 minutes ,only to watch multiple parties get seated ahead of us again.

When I approached the host a second time, we were finally seated at 1:40 PM over an hour after check-in and the interaction felt dismissive and unfriendly.

Delays can happen. Systems can fail. But professionalism is shown in how a mistake is handled. There was no apology, no ownership, no effort to correct the situation. Instead, the issue was subtly shifted onto us because the buzzer “didn’t ring,” as if that was somehow the customer’s responsibility.

Respecting customers means respecting their time. What should have been a simple 30 minute wait turned into over an hour and a half of confusion, frustration, and being overlooked. That is not acceptable service.

I left feeling that my time simply did not matter.

Still, I’m grateful for every experience , even the disappointing ones , because they remind me where my energy and support truly belong

My family brought me here for a nice little dinner and I was pleasantly surprised! What a cute little spot for a good dinner.

The black mole enchiladas was literally to DIE for. I love enchiladas, and I love mole. What a fantastic combo. Please keep going y’all your place is bomb and such a great vibe too.

Our server was super sweet too boot! Thanks y’all much appreciated.

10/10 would recommend.

This is hands down an incredibly good spot for both brunch and lunch. The service was excellent and the staff made us feel very welcome. It is also a great cafe if you are looking for high-quality caffeinated drinks. The menu is reasonably priced for the quality of food you get. You absolutely must try the tortillas, chocolate chip pancakes, carne asada, and barbacoa—they were all highlights of the meal.

This was something that was suggested by my nieces, who know this town better than I do even though I grew up here. This place is a gem that I didn’t even imagine was a thing. I know the color coffee shop cafecito, but they don’t actually sell Cuban Cafecito which is what I was really hoping for when I first saw that shop on Google Maps.

Despite the fact that no one notified our server that he had a new table, things were pretty amazing once we got started. It was hard not to clean my plate, and then offer to finish leftovers for the rest of my family.

If you’re looking for somewhere comfortable, with a nice atmosphere, that you can have a nice meal and a conversation at, this is a good option.

I met my friend for breakfast I had never heard of this place, but she had been there for lunch prior. The food was great, the portions were appropriate. The service was great and clean. They were pretty busy, but this didn’t affect our service. The food came out promptly and hot. Our server was very attentive. Each employee we asked to make a suggestion was more than happy to tell us about their favorites and walk us through the menu. I would surely go back when I am on that side of town.

Hands Down the Best Pancakes in Arizona — A Must-Visit Spot

Otro Café is hands down one of my favorite spots in all of Arizona. Their flapjacks (pancakes) are truly next level — honestly, the best pancakes I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve tried both the berry pancakes and the chocolate chip pancakes, and there is absolutely nothing that compares. If you haven’t tried them yet, you need to come here and experience it for yourself.

I used to visit Otro Café during past work trips, and I’m so happy to be back. This time, I treated myself to a Sunday brunch after church and arrived during their happy hour from 3–6 p.m., which made the experience even better. I ordered a customized drink made exclusively for me, and it was absolutely perfect.

My server, Aiden, was amazing — humble, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely down to earth. He gave excellent recommendations, made sure everything was exactly how I wanted it, and we had such a pleasant conversation. He even made sure I had extra maple syrup and extra butter, and the portions were so generous that I still had plenty to take home. I literally could not finish — and that’s saying something!

Beyond the pancakes, their breakfast burritos are also fantastic, and the overall experience is always consistent and top-notch. The interiors are inviting, the restrooms are clean, there’s plenty of free parking, and the entire place has such a welcoming, comfortable vibe.

Otro Café never disappoints. Amazing food, great service, and a place that feels special every single time. If you’re in Phoenix, this is an absolute must-visit. I’ll keep coming back — happily and hungry! ✨

10/10 experience! We ordered chips & salsa (green salsa was tasty & red was a little spicy!) 1 pozole blanco, 1 asada taco, 2 pork belly tacos, & a chorizo breakfast burrito. It was busy but we didn’t have a long wait & our waiter, Xavier, was so friendly & attentive! Highly recommend the pork belly taco!! I had to take my burrito to go because I wanted another taco instead! It’s also beautiful inside!

We flew to Phoenix for several days to celebrate a family wedding. My son and I were looking to have brunch at a restaurant that we wouldn’t find anywhere else but here in Phoenix. We figured, why eat food that you could already get by in Ohio. Well, all I can say it that we’re glad we found Otro Cafe! The place is contemporary, without the trappings southwestern motifs, but a style that still exudes the southwest! The staff were friendly and were able to seat us quickly despite other larger groups ahead of us. The brunch menu wasn’t overwhelming but had enough variety. I ordered the Consuella del sur, and my son ordered the Nortica. All I can say is, it was worth flying to Phoenix for. We will hopefully get a chance to try a couple of other great places before we fly back.

Good Mexican and spicey. Service was outstanding but wish the food was a bit better. Carne asada burrito bowl was good but meat was very chewy. Nice atmosphere and salsas are delicious! No frozen margs either, only over-the-rocks. Good margs!
