IN LOVE! Never had a better chilli in Texas in my 35 years of existence! The attention the I’m assuming manager/owner gave us! That tip tier southern hospitality! I highly recommend the chilli dog. The chips and queso with the chilli and the chilli burger and if you like a little spice the MEDIUM is where it’s atttttt!!!! Ohhh and if you like a little drinky drink?! The MAD DOG MARGARITA will get you right! Coming back every time I’m in Austin or PASSING BY!!! Thank you all for the hospitality and experience!!!!

Stopped in around 9:00 pm and ordered the steak and enchilada plate, the pork chop (hands down the best), and a chili baked potato. Everything was solid, but the pork chop really stood out.
I loved the old-school bar feel—there’s signage everywhere, and I caught myself looking around a lot just taking it all in. The place has character. The environment and how close it was to my hotel are big reasons it earned 4 s. Overall, it was different, unique, and the service was great.

Walked in to eat before UT basketball game. Old school Austin vibe. The food was good. The chili on our enchiladas was the XX but really had no spice so will be back to try the XXX on frito pie. The chips, salsa and queso were tasty.

You ever walk into a smallish looking dingy dungeon with glowing red lights? That’s the ambience of the TCP and it’s awesome. You walk into a different world of vintage signs, with a classic looking little bar on your left where you know the regulars sit daily. You’re escorted to a table that’s jammed among other tables in a rustic setting. And I absolutely love the vibe. The service is amazing and the atmosphere is to match. $25 ribeye steak with potato and salad is the perfect meal for a great price. The chili is spicy as is the waitresses. I would recommend using a bathroom before going into The TCP as you have to duck into the men’s washroom through a 20 inch door and avoid the sink at the same time. The washroom is the size of a small closet. But that also adds to the vibe. We had amazing service with Crystal who threw in a couple bumper stickers and that was appreciated. Would definitely eat here again

Great food in a dive bar type atmosphere. The chili is awesome. Huge chunks of tender meat.
Gumbo and potato salad were great as well.

And the staff was on point. Food was hot and came out fast.

Texas Chili Parlor is an absolute classic—such a dive in the best possible way, packed with character and history. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit, but the chili is next level. Some of the best chili I’ve ever had.

I ordered the chili frito with habanero beans and wow—seriously spicy, bold, and full of flavor. Exactly what you hope for when you come to a place like this. You know it’s good when there’s a 20-minute wait at 2 PM on a Monday. That says everything.

Amazing food, awesome vibe, and a true Texas institution. Definitely worth the wait.

Did you know chili is the official state dish of Texas? I didn’t
Naturally, whenever I’m in Austin, I have to stop by this place near the state Capitol for their Hot XXX Texas chili. No beans, just slow-cooked beef, chili, jalapeños, and onions—with the Mad Dog margs, of course.

Texas Chili Parlor is an iconic place to visit. It’s famous for its chili, and they offer many different combos and sizes. The prices are reasonable, and the Tex-Mex dishes are also delicious. I had the sausage chili, which was yummy, although it was a bit salty.

This place has one of the greatest atmosphere I’ve ever been, and the food is absolutely amazing. It was my first night in Austin downtown and I really felt as a local.

Bartender told me “good luck” when asking about service at the bar. I sat at a table instead. Food was very good. Very affordable so the value is there. I had the enchilada and steak plate with a sampling of the XX chili for dinner. The enchiladas were great. The steak wasn’t the highest quality but it was seasoned and cooked well. The chili had large chunks of what seemed like chuck. Everything was very good. I went back for lunch and had the two taco plate and the cheese enchilada plate (they were that good the night before). The salsa with the chips and salsa was great. I could drink it. The taco shells would have been better if they had been heated up in an oven or something. The taco meat filling was really tasty. The enchilada plate was fantastic with the ranchero sauce. Service at the table was great both times.
