The restaurant Let me tell you We were all shook!!

We ordered the 30 day aged 1 pound ribeye and then two of us ordered the shrimp dinner one grilled and one blackened. I’ve had a few amazing steaks in my life, and somehow this small town at a seafood restaurant of all places served the very best Ribeye I have ever graced my mouth with….and this wasn’t even a steakhouse. The steak was simply Devine
The shrimp were the perfect size, clean
(no trail on the back) succulent, tender, and tasted like they plucked them things right out the ocean this morning. I’ve never had shrimp that damn good. The collards, green tomatos, and handcut french fries, just fantastic! The only thing everyone at our table didn’t like was the coleslaw, it had a very sweet unusual taste to it. We were all walking mummies in food coma’s when we left. Hands down, the very best restaurant that I’ve been to in a very long long time.

Bought a couple of items to show support to the mom and pop. The T-shirt is off the chain, and I of course had to get one along with their secret season bottle.

Service was very friendly and efficient. She took great care of us. We will most certainly be back!

My boyfriend and I went here tonight for Valentine’s Day. I’ve been dying to try Lightsey’s for the 3 years I’ve lived in Okeechobee, but as a fast food employee this has always been a bit out of my budget. Well, we decided to splurge after not going out to eat as a couple all year. To say I was disappointed after waiting 3 years to try this place is an understatement. First of all I got the Gator appetizer. We ordered the Cajun style. It came out plain. After bringing this to the waitress attention she scooped up our plate took it to the back and brought it back out with seasoning carelessly dumped ALL OVER the gator and brought the same plate back out with the now soggy $20 10 piece gator bite. I’m pretty sure it was supposed to go on before it was fried. Next I got the okeechobee sampler for my meal. The server struggled to tell me which items were what in the plate, and could not tell me what sauces paired with which meat. I also wasn’t aware the market value (which you don’t find out I’ll you get your receipt was for $42) Everything also seemed under fried. The batter was mushy and falling off. Then I took a bite of the cooter. I was so embarrassed to spit it out, that’s how bad the taste was. My boyfriend at this point asked to have the dish sent back, literally within minutes and 2 or 3 bites of the food getting to the table. She said she could take it back, but we still have to pay for it. They clearly were not willing to stand behind their food. I’ve worked in restaurants for over 15 years and I have NEVR heard of a restaurant refusing to take back food when a customer isn’t satisfied. The whole experience was disappointing from start to finish. The only thing I enjoyed was the pumpkin bread. Which I had to order after the failed $42 plate. they couldn’t even make it look appetizing. Just look at the presentation. Seriously? The fries were cold out the kitchen. $42 and couldn’t even get hot fries. The bill totaled $109 and I still tipped decent cause I’m not an asshole. I really hope the owner reaches out and makes this right, I will be letting everyone know of my disappointing experience at Lightseys

I loved the food, we had the 1.5 pound of snowcrab and one pound of shrimp. It was plenty of food! Their coleslaw is really really good. The ambience is nice, well decorated, and the service was good.
I would definitely come back to this place if I ever go back to okechobee.

It’s an unusual place definitely worth checking out. The menu alone is a conversation piece offering alligator, cooler, and frog legs. The buffet has mostly everything on the menu. The cost per person can go well over $50. The food was okay. The pumpkin bread was a little to oily and the peach cobbler was dry.

If you think Okeechobee Florida doesn’t have enough good restaurants look no further than Lightsey’s!!! we had the bacon Gouda burger, and the prime rib, which are delicious, but their specialty is seafood. We’ll have to come back for more.!!! AND Okra cooked the Florida way!!! Ask for Erica G. She will treat you right!!!

My wife and I visited recently and were greeted promptly upon arrival. We were informed of a brief wait, had our name taken, and were seated within about seven minutes—communication was clear and expectations were accurate.

For drinks, I ordered a local beer from one of the breweries they support along with sweet tea, and my wife enjoyed margaritas. Both were well made and a great start to the meal.

Food quality was excellent. My wife is not typically a fish eater, but despite the straightforward menu, she discovered a new favorite—the Golden Tilefish. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right for her palate. I had the Catfish Finger dinner, which was outstanding. The catfish was cooked well, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the selection of dipping sauces.

Sides were a highlight. We both loved the coleslaw, the gouda au gratin potatoes were rich and comforting, and the okra was especially well done.

The wait staff was attentive and friendly throughout the meal, and the pricing felt very reasonable for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. Overall, a great experience—we will definitely be back.

We -7 of us, including 3 kids-were heading back to Broward from Orlando and exploring the Okechobee area instead of driving the same old main highways. Looked at the reviews for Lightsey’s and thought that would be a great place to take a lunch break. Turned out to be a brilliant idea because the food was excellent (most of our selections were from the fish of the day menu) and the service was great. Our waitress Lori was wonderful- fast, friendly and helpful.
They have an unusual selection of home made side sauces, including keylime and sweet potato. We tried both of those and they tasted really good. The kids menu is fun too, and included things like frogs legs, which our four-year-old decided he’d try for a change! A great range of interesting beers for those who drink.
The inside dining area looked interesting w tons of quirky signs and such, but we sat in the outside patio as it was a lovely day.
Lightsey’s is well worth a visit. The seafood is fresh and well cooked. We’ll have to go back because we were all too full for the Keylime pie or peach cobbler!

We drive over from Clearwater to scuba dive on the East coast. Stumbled upon this on our way back, starving and could not wait 4 hours home! This will now by a regular part of our yearly scuba trip. As a Native Florida Gulf Coast girl I have eaten plenty of seafood and plenty of Southern and this was wonderful. Our server Miss Riley was as sweet as could be and gave us excellent descriptions of our meals to help decide. We will absolutely be back and bringing family and friends with us.
Thank you for a wonderful meal and wonderful experience to top of our Scuba trip.

My wife and I stopped in here in a recommendation from one of the hotel staff. I am really glad we stopped in for dinner. I had the fried shrimp plate and I have to say it was some of the best shrimp that I have ever had, very lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. Their tartar sauce and cocktail sauce great. The fries and slaw were very good as well. My wife had the grilled shrimp and they were equally delicious. Bottom line if you are in the area and want some good seafood this place is one that should make your list. If I am in the area again I will definitely be back.
