I haven’t been to Tomo Sushi in probably decades, but decided to give it a try. It’s got a lot better over the years. The place looks about the same inside. The service was very good, though the server had a little trouble recognizing what nigiri was what, beyond the obvious salmon.
We came for lunch which is priced at $27.95 per person, the usual rules apply about wasting food and leaving rice on the plate. But what was nice is they don’t overload the rice here. I ordered mostly nigiri and the little rice ball was welcome as opposed to that big loaf of rice and thin piece of fish on top at some places. All the fish tasted fresh and tender. The mussels were a nice surprise, served in spoons already taken out of their shells. Those were tasty and easy to deal with, without the shells.
Sitting at at table, you just fill out the order sheet of what you want on the all you can eat option. They didn’t forget any items either. I’ll make more of an effort to remember to come here for sushi when in Carson City.

They have been hit and miss for the past few years but for whatever reason we continued to support them. They have been on a major downward spiral for the last 8-12 months. Sushi quality is abysmal and probably the worst in the Carson, Minden and Gardnerville area. Last roll I got was a Philly with salmon, cream cheese and avocado. One end of the roll was all cream cheese and the other end all avocado with salmon sparingly throughout, this is a serious consistency issue due to laziness and complacency from the “chefs”. This “chef” I’m referring to has worked there for years and knows better but doesn’t care. Another night we found a long black hair in the roll and naturally our whole group lost our appetites. We spoke to the owner who couldn’t bother to even apologize and gave us a blank stare like we were trying to get a free meal out of him. Not once has the owner ever corrected any issues nor showed any concern. At this point we have completely given up on them as have all our friends and colleagues. Save your hard earned money and spend it somewhere that appreciates it. I refuse to give them another dollar and It’s only a matter of time before they close. No business can survive with quality and customer service issues like this.

I have eaten here at LEAST 15 times since we moved to Tahoe last year! I have tried a lot of sushi places, and this is hands-down the best sushi I’ve ever had. Not once have I been disappointed by the food here! AYCE is the only way I eat sushi, and it’s such a great price here! The salmon is always buttery and amazing. There’s plenty of sushi up in Tahoe, but I always drive down to Carson for this place because it’s just the best. If I ever move out of the area, I’m genuinely going to be sad to leave Tomo behind.

Ordered a French fry basket off the kids menu. They do not offer ketchup…
Or they said they were all out after the fact it was prepared and delivered.
Waitress dropped our food off at the wrong table and didn’t offer to remake it after the other guest touched the plate.
I would NOT recommend this spot.

A local favorite. Fast service, the art in the wall is absolutely gorgeous, and the sushi AMAZING. And if you’re not feeling sushi there are other options like their bento boxes, or udon noodles!

I took my mom here and we ate several rolls, all of these I highly recommend….Geisha, Tahoe, Summertime, and two others I cannot remember. I was shocked the taste is fresh and interesting. I didn’t have really high expectations for this tiny place in Carson City, maybe it was because we came on and all you can eat sushi night. Rather than doing all you can eat, we ordered the five rolls. To my surprise it was excellent, we almost finished everything, just the two of us! The sushi is delicious and fresh. I recommend the nigori sake. Yum yum.

First time there. Party of 8 so they had to shift tables around. Was swiftly accomplished. No problem with separate checks. Delicious food. We did all you can eat sushi…The main waitress was efficient and pleasant. We all talked about going back at least once-a- month!

So where do I start…
The location is awesome; there is pleny of parking spaces available and the view is great. There are no tables outside, but one wouldn’t miss them either. Inside you can either sit at the bar or at a table that can comfortably fit up to 4 people per. There is music running and personally, I loved the playlist. It’s not too quiet and not too loud. The employees are super nice and focused and they regularly come by to make sure that nothing is amiss. The kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant and there are always multiple cooks doing their job. What’s really important: the whole place is super clean. It looks organized and well managed. They have a very pretty modern interior with wooden elements that puts up a nice atmosphere. The big wall on the left of the entrance pictures a biiig lake and instantly lifts your mood.
About the food:
They offer ALL YOU CAN EAT here with a very fair rule: anything that you can’t manage to eat, you pay extra. Otherwise the prices are super affordable. It’s about 25 bucks per adult, but even women with small stomachs easily reach this sum with their orders on the menu. The fish is *fresh* and the rice perfectly cooked. To make sure that this was not just a good day, I visited a second time. But again, the food was really impeccable and my partner agrees. This place is a must try, I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lake Tahoe or Carson City.

After waiting for a half an hour to be seated, and then after waiting for half an hour after our order was taken, I still didn’t have a simple bento box in front of me. They clearly forgot about our orders and made an excuse. I bailed and went a couple businesses over to Roberto’s for tacos. Waited less than one quarter of the time, paid less than one half the price, and I’m sure I got something that tasted twice as good! Don’t waste your time at the sushi restaurant!

Best sushi I’ve had in ages! Fresh and lots of interesting choices. Great all you can eat menu for a good price (think it was $24,99). Most rolls do come in 8 or 10 pieces so take it slow when ordering 😉 Quick service and friendly staff!
