I want to start out by saying that waitress, no fault to her, was prompt and mostly friendly.
At first we noticed a sign saying that chips and salsa refills would each be $1.00, which we thought was absurd. A poor economy was listed as the cause.
Upon viewing the menu, I noticed some items that are typically cheaper, with higher price tags. Most street taco platters average $2-3 a taco, their’s was $15.99. I went with the chimichanga meal.
We ordered an appetizer, the Flamming Queso, I think. It was actually pretty decent, but their “seasoned sausage” was not very good. Should have been a red flag that they didn’t call it chorizo lol
My wife and I both ordered margaritas, lime on the rocks with salt. They didn’t taste like alcohol, only a chemically lime flavor.
My wife’s order came out incorrect, she ordered beef on her nachos, and they came out with only bean. Our waitress told us she would remove the beef upcharge.
Mine came out looking okay, but to be honest, most of it was just so so. The beans particularly were not good, and the rice was sub par. The chimis were alright.
We left disappointed. About 10 minutes into driving, I had to pull over and vomited everywhere. I dont have a light stomach, in fact the last time I vomited was 5 years prior when having food poisoning. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and for anyone skeptical, I hadn’t had anything to eat prior expect for some donuts about 5-6 hours prior to this.
As dinner moved further into the hour my partner had ordered me a beer while I was in the bathroom, now mind you the waitress never once asked my partner if he had ID to order a beer. 20 mins later, the manager Teressa came stomping out of the back demanding to see my partner’s ID, which actually was left in the truck just because we were so tired. Rudely, demanded that alcohol beverage was moved in front of me instead of the middle of the table and what she considered too close to my partner. There is a way to politely ask and not become irate with customers. I think the breaking point was her literally staring us down from the kitchen making us feel uncomfortable, just to see if my partner was drinking.
I definitely understand to a point, however, if you want to make sure, there are other ways to watch discretely, there were plenty of cameras in the facility; watch the cameras? After dinner came out, we quickly asked for the bill and boxes and ate dinner in the truck.
I don’t think that I have experienced anything like this in my life and I’m 35. It just seems to be a little too much and creepy. I’m not taking away from her role to ensure the restaurant is upholding laws and rules, however to belittle, become irate and nasty to customers is not the way to go. Teresa should for sure be questioned and properly trained by upper management to handle customer relations. Truck drivers with spouses and partners, be sure to stay away from this establishment as it is not a friendly business.
I found the portions a little on the meager side. Having had to add an additional item or more sometimes to quench my appetite. Which in turn destroyed my meal budget.
LOL!
