Superdawg is a retro joy of a drive-in with hotdog mascots that transport you to an idealic 1950’s eating experience. Recommend the fish, the hotdog (a must for out-of-town guests) and the desserts. I shorted the food a star because while the hotdog and the fries are delicious, it was missing a piece of wax paper or foil in its (super cute themed) box to keep the two items apart. This oversight resulted in a soggy hotdog bun. I strongly recommend asking for the fries to be served outside of the box as the wet bun dissolved as I attempted to eat the hotdog. Super messy. It’s a $10 hotdog. Add the wax paper or foil!

I’m really grateful for the Wheeling location. My Grandparents lived near the original spot, and as a teenager and college student, we would commute from McHenry or DeKalb all the way to Chicago just for their food. I still live up north, so having Wheeling nearby is perfect.

The food is consistently excellent. The Supercheesie is, in my opinion, the quintessential fast-casual burger in Chicago. The fried veggies are seriously underrated and deserve to be part of every meal. A vanilla malt is perfect for the drive home. And of course, don’t miss the chance to try Superdawg, a true Chicago classic.

It occurred to me that I was 5 years old when I visited Milwaukee and Devon with my dad. I guesstimate I’ve averaged ten Superdawgs a year over the past 54 years, with one exception, the year I turned 16 and started driving…then it was weekly for at least six months. Consistently good. Glad they opened in Wheeling. Superdawg is frequently featured on foodie travel shows, listed among the top hot dogs locally, regionally, and nationally.

As a proud Chicagonian, I have to say that the Chicago location is just down the street from my grandma’s house! It’s always nice to visit. However, I noticed that the hot dog didn’t quite taste the same this time around. On the bright side, the fries, condiments, customer service, and the overall location were all fantastic!

Wonderful place to get a delicious traditional hotdog, Cheeseburger, fries and shake. You can order inside, your car or in back at the tables. They now sell beer.

Visiting from Florida, 6 of us ordered a variety of items from the menu. Not a single complaint.
Every part of the meal was great. Nothing was too salty, too soft, too weak, too sweet, … it was everything we anticipated and hoped as part of our Chicago experience. Even some of the choosy palates in our party raved over the relish!
Friendly staff, pleasant regulars, nostalgic atmosphere. With all the fluff and hype surrounding us, this is a real experience.

I can’t tell you how much my son and I love Superdawg. We come here every couple weeks. He always gets the superdawgs and I get the double whopper burger. The fries are tasty — There are never any left. The staff is wonderful, always smiling, especially Nancy R, who made us feel so welcome. Great food and great history! Back soon!

A staple of the area. Next time I’m there, I’m getting an ungodly amount of green relish on everything. Hot, fresh, delicious, amazingly quality kept drive-in with extremely friendly staff. Keep up the great work!

Saw this place in between work stops and was excited to go in. BIG MISTAKE! Not sure if lady behind counter was having a bad day or just normally a jerk but she saw me and my nephew (both Hispanic) and instantly went ice cold! I ordered what I wanted and she mumbled why I don’t get it the way it is described. I said I want what I want. She blew me off and took nephew’s order and was equally pissed that he didn’t want mustard! Her attitude included a lot of head shaking and muttering and Spanish speaking cooks said they want what they want no big deal. I stood there with anger rising as she greeted the next customer with love and smiles (not Hispanic). Actually got pissed at this and cooks definitely noticed! To top it off the hot dog was ehhh and for 2 orders it was $33 frickin bucks. Next time il stick to Maxwell St Polish!! Superdawg was A major Disappointment and I left with a bad taste in my mouth literally and figuratively.
